MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD Best viewed large. / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!..

The view I have from my bedroom’s window.It’s beautiful in summer times too with all the flowers.I add a little japanese bridge to walk over the spring’s flow.It’s the second snowfall we have ,it’s white everywhere.I ‘m gone put that pic. in the «passion» group because my garden is a part of my soul.I took off big roots and heavy stones all over arround the house,bought , I don’t know how many trip of soil to fill up my shadow garden.I’ve worked for three years and It’s not finished yet. .All my friends thought I was crasy …well,maybe a little.You will see more of it in summer time. / I know it looks like a B&W photo because of all the snow but it’s not.

Ever dreamed of sneaking away to a quiet, tranquil spot…lush vegetation, hearing the sounds of the forest and spending the day relaxing, reading a good book and having the most yummy picnic? / Well here is a little oasis I created. It looks a lot like an area of New Zealand called the Marlborough Sounds. What childhood memories are made of. The old bach (or crib)...simple holiday home with comfortable but basic living conditions. Getting away from the rat race.

The plant is now grown in many tropical locations both for the extravagant ‘flowers’ and for food. In Malaysia, it is called kantan. The peduncles (stems) of the inflorescence are chopped and added to laksa pots (various curries or soups made with rice noodles). The spectacular inflorescence rises from the rhizome to a height of 60 centimeters (24 inches) to more than a meter (40 inches). The individual flowers will appear from between the pinecone-like scales above the waxy bracts. The leaves grow in ranks from separate stalks along the rhizome. The leafy stalks are evergreen and get 4.5 to 6 meters (15 to 20 feet) tall. Etlingera elatior (Torch Ginger or Ginger Flower) is a species of herbaceous perennial plant. Botanical synonyms include Nicolaia elatior and Phaeomeria speciosa. The showy pink flowers are used in decorative arrangements while the flower buds are an important ingredient in the Nonya dish laksa. In North Sumtara, the flower buds are used for a dish called arsik ikan mas (Andaliman Peppercorn Spiced Carps) It is known in Indonesianas “bunga kecombrang ” or “honje”, Malay as bunga kantan and Thai as kaalaa. In Karo, it is known as asam cekala (asam meaning ‘sour’), and the flower buds, but more importantly the ripe seed pods, which are packed with small black seeds, are an essential ingredient of the Karo version of sayur asam, and are particularly suited to cooking fresh fish.” Information Sources: Etlingera eliator / Plant of the Week

I thought i would quickly pop onto Bubble and show you this,,My wonderful Daughter gave me this beautiful little fairy for christmas, and my fabulous Son gave me super special Macro lens’s for my Camera, which i used to take a shot of the Fairy. / I took fairy into psp and painter x to do my thing with,,hope you like it.. Happy New year to everyone,,,,,:)

This image was taken in March of 2007 on my way back from Evergreen, Colorado when I was there helping my Mother with a broken ankle. As I was driving back I noticed the spectacular cloud formations around me and found this place off a side road. The sun set and the colors and mood were timeless. I snapped the image and knew right away this would be a keeper.

Magnolias are actually of the evergreen family in many places. The cone in the center is known as the fruit, containing the seeds of bright red which contain the fragrance magnolias emit. The oils are often collected as well for perfume and beauty aid scents. Oh, sweet magnolias! /

I have finally found out what this plant is called and I was close with my original title of ‘Snowdrops’, which is just what popped into my head when I looked at this plant. I now know it is commonly called Snow Queen, hence the title change. If anyone is desperate to know, its botanical name is Pieris.
