Twilight storm at Lido Key beach. The two brightest celestial bodies are the Moon and Venus. Because of the storm most people cleared the beach, but because of the storm, I was drawn towards it. I did not get another good shot of lightning that evening – I forgot to bring my tripod, so the photos prior to this one are too blurred. I captured this clear shot by setting my camera on a beach chair, and propping up the lens with one of my flip-flops. And this stroke of lightning was the last significant one. But I’m sure grateful for it! I didn’t modify the picture except to increase the brightness and contrast a bit, and remove camera artifacts. I’m not too good at making photos look more ‘artistic’, but for landscape, atmospheric, and flower photos, I think I prefer the more natural look. / (Photo taken on July 17, 2007)

We enjoyed the mellow dusk settle on this perfect anchorage with pints of beer in hand, outside the renowned Forge inn, (officially Britains remotest mainland pub). The tiny scottish hamlet of Inverie is inaccessible by road, only by sea or a demanding walk of many miles. We had crossed to the unspoilt area of the knoydart peninsula by ferry from Mallaig for some amazing walking (see the series of 3 pics on heartbeat ridge . The sights on arrival were just captivating with wildflowers galore, deer roaming gardens, peacocks roosting (see bird in a tree and I also got the precious shot of morning gems. Gerroa is an idyllic village at the Kiama end of Seven Mile Beach on the south coast of New South Wales … their sunset on Tuesday (6 January 08) was aided by smoke haze from bushfires in the Morton National Forest. After a day in which temperatures reached 40 degrees celsius and beyond, there were plenty of relaxed holiday-makers still enjoying the ambience, the breeze and the spectacular skies. The Eastern Orthodox cross (also known as the Byzantine cross) can be considered a modified version of the Patriarchal cross. / One tradition holds that the slanted bar represents the repentant thief and the unrepentant thief that were crucified with Christ, the one to Jesus’ right hand repenting and rising to be with God, and one on his left falling to Hell and separation from God. In this manner it also reminds the viewer of the Last Judgement.
The evening sun gives me hope for a new day tomorrow..
Loved this boat sitting so calm on the Noosa River, as I was sitting there waiting for the sunset colours to intensify, this seagull started feeding off bait fish on the surface.. Bit of a shame he wasn’t facing me, but still happy :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland. Canon 50D, 14mm. Available large, and definately best viewed large!

Dancing with the Moon / / original pencil drawing in keeping with my New Year’s resolution here’s the first upload on a Wednesday evening!! I managed to only colour one this week, and it feels great… i spent more time on it, and enjoyed other activities, such as drawing and time spent with family … i am really happy with how this worked out she’s ‘dancing with the moon’ – i used mechanical pencils on A2 or A3 paper, inspired by an image i saw in a magazine of a geisha from the hind view…. and my woollen plait i use for reference all the time (i made this plait from a ball of wool…as i always have trouble drawing plaits) and i think it’s inspired by the vintage look…I just love adornments and romanticism..and i think it’s such a lovely thought to be lost in a dream and dancing with the moon like this, on a beautiful night….. we had a beautiful full moon the night after i completed this, and it felt like i was in synch with the moon
