  • I am fascinated by different kinds of light on form. This image was meant to bring a feeling of a cold winter evening….long ago.

  • The horses of the Akhal-teke breed are famous for the golden shimmer of their coat. They are thoroughbreds (like English thoroughbreds and Arabians) and originate from Turkmenistan. The breed is thought to be over 2000 years old and is one of the very earlier horse breeds known.

  • Enjoy!! _

  • Another picture from Skye taken a week or so ago. The tide coming in rapidly on Elgol beach with the Black Cuillin mountains in the distance. Long exposure of 30 secs @f16

Wikipedia “Bleak Midwinter” has been one of my favorite Christmas carols for years now … I first heard it sung by John Gorka and encourage everyone, if you can find it, to listen. Here’s another lovely version of it that I hope you enjoy!! Bleak Midwinter Obsidian Dawn

  • We never thought this day would come, / But it’s finally here at last, What once was our bright future, / Is now are dim-lit past, But we hold onto the memories, / The lessons that we learned, The pathways we have traveled down, / The corners that we turned, And soon we say our sad goodbyes, / That will last us forever, We may see each other again, / Maybe once or maybe never, So make your goodbyes ones to remember, / The kind that will stay in their heads, Those are the goodbyes they will treasure, / The ones that were sad to be said.

  • There will be times when you will be in / the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset / or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. / Don’t be bitter because you can’t record it. / Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

  • When I am an old horsewoman / I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, / And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me / And I shall spend my social security on / white wine and carrots, / And sit in my alleyway of my barn / And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night / And ride the old bay gelding, / Across the moonstruck meadow / If my old bones will allow / And when people come to call, I will smile and nod / As I walk past the gardens to the barn / and show instead the flowers growing / inside stalls fresh-lined with straw. I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair / as if it were a jewel / And I will be an embarrassment to all / Who will not yet have found the peace in being free / to have a horse as a best friend / A friend who waits at midnight hour / With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes / For the kind of woman I will be / When I am old.

  • Featured in COUNTRY ROADS / Around the World January 23, 2009. / Featured in Country Bumpkin January 23, 2009. / Featured in In Another World January 17, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions January 17, 2009. Companion piece to Winter White .. but with slightly different camera settings and slightly closer to the entrance to the woods. I also monkeyed around with it a bit in PS. The road dips down here rather startlingly, but my little 4-wheel Rav4 made it down like a champ, bless its little heart!! Image taken on January 12, 2009 with the Nikon D40x, using the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. This was taken on Blue Knob in Claysburg, PA. If you enjoyed this, I’d love for you to visit LynEvans’ image, here, which was my inspiration: A Winter’s Tale

  • Here’s a photo I took from my balcony in June 2009. We are lucky enough to watch spectacular sunsets daily and this was just one of many I’ve managed to capture so I decided to share.. I know there’s plenty of beautiful sunset shots but I love this as it’s from my house :o) / Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / Processed in RAW

  • We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to make it Khumjung on our way back down ‘the mountain’ as the weather was coming in and we were in ‘sleeping bag’ mode. Luckily, the stop offered more than a sighting of the Yeti skull and street lights!! It was already late in the afternoon and the snow had just begun to fall consistently- this lady had also obviously decided it was time to head back indoors. Shot with my trusty olympus790SW

  • A busy evening in the feathered departure lounge. (Photo taken in Scotland)

  • Winter day is shortest just now, light time… is really short. Northern in the Finland the sun doesn’t raise at all many months. / Post processing in Photoshop CS4. Canon EOS 40D / Canon EF-S 17-85MM 1:4-5.6 IS USM / 1/125s / f/5,6 / ISO100 / 50mm
