Bogey Hole – a convict built swimming hole / Newcastle NSW Australia
The Bogey Hole was constructed by order of Commandant Morisset in about 1820 for his own personal use and was originally known as the “Commandant’s Baths”. Morisset was Commandant of Newcastle from 1819 to 1822. The name “Bogey Hole” was applied afterwards and comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “to bathe”.

The atmosphere is filled with the sound of the sax while the sun goes down in the horizon, a perfect evening for romance
Took this a couple of weeks ago of my little girl at the beach and realised it’s potential this morning when I started to play with the colour, light and layers so of course I though that I would share!

This shot was taken in The Water Run on the Coastal Walk in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. It was a wild and stormy evening and the sun just started to emerge from the clouds behind me as it was setting. The blue tint to the water comes for a very short period around sunset – you can just see it in any moving water at this time in the right light but the camera really picks it up. A passing storm at Black Rock, near Barwon Heads. The remnants of a rainbow just visible beneath the storm cloud. /
Taken at Black Rock near Barwon Heads. The storm had just passed out to sea and let the late evening light illuminate the water.
It is not how it looked in the viewfinder but it is how I wanted it to look in the end. The process of creating photographs is one with endless possibilities between the accurate recordings and significant transformations through camera settings and post processing steps. There is no "right" way to do all this and all options are available – at least for the open minded. So we choose the shutter speed, set the aperture, widen the angle or zoom in, highlight some elements, darken others, sharpen somethings, blur others, saturate and de-saturate, blend and hide,... all which change and transform the raw photo into something interesting for the eye – at times even visual art. Here I tried to create a piece of work that resembled the reality but also transcended into new visual dimensions which could not be seen by the human eye on location – merely in my mind. The long exposure and various post processing steps made this possible. The raw material was captured on Havskåren, a tiny island in the Oslofjord by the Nøtterøy archipelago. I posted this because I liked how the composition turned out. I also love the colors – muted yet warm and inviting. Earth colors. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed creating it.

This is what I love to do most evenings in summer,,, I just paddle out, float around and watch the sunset. I find sunsets very beautiful so I thought I would share my point of view! / Ohh, and yes,, I took the camera out on the board with me! Not too deep but did nearly get done by a wave.. pretty stupid, I know but I just really wanted to share this! .. The perils of photography!
