A Tranquil Evening The world seemed to almost totally stop when I took this, it was a hot evening, I was sweating just about to die, but for a moment, life seemed suspended, all the hustle and bustle disappeared, and the sky went fantastic, as if the Lord above painted something which had never been seen before. For an instant, tranquility, for an instant, serenity, for an instant, the light was to die for. Look closely, take it all in, and you may notice the distant red traffic lights. The building on the left is the old boat house at Washington Park where this was shot at, built around the turn on the century 1900. These days it serves as a place for concerts for classical music, Scottish Bagpipes, and similar sorts of sounds. Examine it close and just take a deep breath. New Mexico ….well known for it’s light to photographers and this is one example as to why. During this time of the year, the sun often tends to linger in the western sky and cast some amazing long and warm shadows to the East, and lucky for me, that meant against the Sandia Mountain Range. What really got me is that sheer openess of everything, just huge, gigantic open spaces that one can stop at, set up their gear, and have at it. Anytime, anywhere, and people don’t look at ya like you’re 1/2 insane lol Anyways, thoughts appreciated! / —-John

I was in the kitchen cooking dinner when my husband came in from the front yard. He said I needed to go look at the sky. As soon as I saw this, I immediately turned around and ran for my camera. Captured on an early morning at Denver’s historic Washington Park. Standing here taking in the scene, was just amazing, sheer serenity….so utterly quiet I didn’t even hear the Goose swimming by. Amazing that in such a large city, nature thrives, never knowing that this peace is surrounded by so many people. Well this shot did really well over on deviantART so I thought that I would also share with you all here too. (I honestly wasn’t expecting the 1600 odd favorites it received over there, took me by surprise!) Storm clouds fight with the evening sunset over the Colorado Rockies & Longs Peak. Every now and then I like to get a little artistic with my HDR’s and this is one of those, there is no right, no wrongs when it comes to photography and artistic interpretation, and i realize that not everyone likes that, nor this style, that is fine, I respect that, but I also ask the same of you to respect my creativeness, too! This church is located near Brussels, Wisconsin. I took several shots to include some day shots I will post soon. Just wanted to get a couple sunset shots up since they turned out so nice. I am not much of a sunset guy but I thought the silhouette of the church would make a nice scene. I hope ou enjoy.
