Sunset scene containing windmill and water tank on a farm property between Jerilderie and Narrandera on the Newell Highway, New South Wales, Australia.
The second in the series of Moon shots. This one is a small lake in the Gnoll park local to where I livein Neath. Again I used lots of saturation and dodge to get the vivid colour and gradients over the sky to turn day into night. The moon I added using layers this time as I wanted it behind the trees. Hope you like it. / /

Twilight storm at Lido Key beach. The two brightest celestial bodies are the Moon and Venus. Because of the storm most people cleared the beach, but because of the storm, I was drawn towards it. I did not get another good shot of lightning that evening – I forgot to bring my tripod, so the photos prior to this one are too blurred. I captured this clear shot by setting my camera on a beach chair, and propping up the lens with one of my flip-flops. And this stroke of lightning was the last significant one. But I’m sure grateful for it! I didn’t modify the picture except to increase the brightness and contrast a bit, and remove camera artifacts. I’m not too good at making photos look more ‘artistic’, but for landscape, atmospheric, and flower photos, I think I prefer the more natural look. / (Photo taken on July 17, 2007)

View of Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) from the castle of Malcesine. A silhouette of the castle walls -as well as that of cypresses, so typical for Mediterranean!- is visible in the foreground. Taken in August 2001. Canon EOS 500N, 28-80mm. Post-processing: retouch, sharpening, color. Click here to see more photos from Lago di Garda:
Enjoy!! _
Yep this is a moonrise, not a sunrise. I’ve never seen such an orange moon rising as on this night. This is one photo from a sequence of 135 I shot of the moonrise, which I’ve turned into a timelapse – you can see one hour of moonrise in 30 seconds here And can I also get your help? I can’t make up my mind which crop I like best so can you tell me whether you like #1, #2, or #3 and I’ll post the most popular up. Just a fun shot I did through a greenhouse window where they were growing lovely flowers. A bit of darkening and added the moon (of course, or there’d be no reflection to speak of!) ;-)

Rota Island – August 2009 / straight out of the camera / Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain.
