  • STONEHENGE FROM A MONOCHROME ORIGINAL

  • Hunting thruout Venice’s canals and alleys for something special to photograph, I came upon this painted figure at the end of an alley. There was an artist who had painted these shadowy figures thruout Venice the second year that I was in Venice working on a series of photographs of the city by full moonlight. Every now and then you’d come across one. It always took you by surprise because you would never anticipate it. I never found out who the artist was nor do I know what became of the work itself but it held an allure for me. Click once on image to enlarge. / / / /

  • Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. • This image is made from 16 vertical shots and assembled in Hugin. the main subject is the largest single arched stone bridge in the world located in Solkan, Slovenia, Europe. I spent almost 3 hours to make it.

  • A laneway in the backstreets of Valencia, Spain. This was taken in June on a warm summer’s night. Everything was perfectly still and quiet down the lane. Huge contrast to the day time when you could barely walk down it with the amount of people about! • It wasn’t just the windows of Mdina, Malta that caught my eye. The brightly coloured doors surrounded by Bougainvillea flowers also attracted my lens. This blue door and bright pink bush stood out against the stone so boldly. Gear: Nikon D80, AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 G ED

  • SEGAL, FRANCE / / Driving into Segal after visiting the Castle of Bouillon, the house at the end of the road captured my attention and began to lure me. / I HAD TO GO INSIDE! Johan check that house out! lets go in and take some shots! INTERDIT! but Johan found a way around the back. The gate was ajar so we squeezed to get in. Homeless people had made part of it a semi residence, where exactly we could not see. / / It was a maze that went up and down and even further down the bowels of which lurked in the earth. We found a stairway that was the only way up. The stairway was burnt out it seemed as though the fire took the top floors only. We helped each other up and onto the second floor. There were no footprints in the ash and the smell of smoke still lingered. How long ago was the fire? no idea. It was very spooky, 3 floors above ground level and im not sure how many below but did not want to find out. /

  • Verona, Italy on a rainy day March 4/09. / The beauty of marble streets blew me away!!

  • This building in Derry, Northern Ireland, is an example of some of the City’s fine Georgian and neo-Georgian architecture. Unfortunately it is now in need of some loving attention. It is a listed building, and in due course it will be renovated. Canon EOS 450D, 18-55mm lens, HDR treatment.

  • FEATURED SEPT 2009 FOUNTAINS / This beautiful fountain of Onofrio sits at one end of the main street of the Old Town in Dubrovnik. It is shown here strangely deserted, except for the lonely pigeon taking harbour there on the cool Autumn day. / / A smaller fountain by Onofrio is situated at the opposite end of the mainstreet of the Old Town. / In summer, both the Onofrio Fountains as anyone who has visited will know, is one of the popular hubs in the Old Town. A meeting place. A place to rest and refresh. A place where fancy minstrels will strum their songs of yesteryear. This sixteen-sided fountain was completed in 1438, conveying water to the Old Town from 12 miles away. It was an architectural and engineering achievement for its time. Heavily damaged in the Earthquake of 1667, and again in the war of independence in 1991, the fountain has been restored each time to its original splendor, and is one of innumerable treatises of the rock-hard determination and resilience of the proud people of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik Old Town, has been listed since 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Labyrinths have always had a magical and slightly daunting effect on me. Possibly influenced by the David Bowie / Jennifer Connelly 80s movie. Walking around in the walls of a labyrinth, you have lost all your friends, but can still hear them in the distance, somewhere. Not sure where you are or where you are going, you stumble across an open area, an old forest. You see a makeshift burrow, made out of old stones, looks like it’s been there for hundreds of years. As you get closer, you hear soft whimpering coming from within. As you get to the old wooden door, you can clearly hear a child crying inside. That’s when you hear the growling behind you… Taken in Prague, along an old overgrown path, on the way to the hill that overlooks the whole city. I clearly remember looking at this and having a small shiver. • Another photo taken on the historic Walls of Derry. The Derry Walls were built in the early 17th century, and are the only remaining complete city walls in Ireland. The old city of Derry is one of the finest examples of a walled city in Europe. Canon EOS 450D, 18-55mm lens. Tone mapped in Dynamic-Photo HDR, slightly desaturated and brown-toned Orton effect applied, and some film grain for atmosphere. /

  • County Donegal, Ireland. Mono conversion, slightly toned. Canon EOS 450D, 50mm f1.8 lens, about 7.30 pm

  • Shot in Tropea, Italy. Added a bit of cross processing to alter the colors.
