  • We had a wonderful 5 days in Singapore. The lads, one of the bands on my record label, played to a festival crowd of 25,000. / That was on the second night. The rest of the time we went everywhere on the Island with me seeking out my old haunts from a time when I used to live there.

  • Where most of us usually reside. I am just recently learning that “Cloud Nine” is not a globally known term. So as an explanation: people who are euphorically happy are usually said to be “Living on Cloud Nine” or “On Cloud Nine”. Well, in most of our lives rain will fall, rabbits will eat our tulips and birds will land on our heads. We may not live in a palace, and have to climb many steps to get there. We are not unhappy, but living a life of euphoric happiness is one cloud over. oh, and I dont know if thats a states thing or not too, our houses are odd and even, so all the odd house numbers are on one side of the street and the even on the other. : ) Here is a detail of the design (fabric texture is not on actual print) /

  • My family is scarred by alcoholism, which caused my mom’s early and torturous death indirectly. This is a satirical piece. I decided to go to the object of addiction itself not the addicted. What I found there was an astonishing work of marketing brilliance. If you go look closely at the actual products, you’ll see that I’ve reworded each liquor bottle label using the same “spirit” (pun intended) that they use in their advertising copy. I simply changed the words but kept the enthusiastic pep talk about what enchantment these products could provide. This is making fun of marketing to be sure. But I’m not sure which is the larger vice…one’s abuse of alcohol or the “artistic license” used in marketing them. Inspiration for this piece came from a line from the Brazilian poem “Residue” by Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987) –translated by Mark Strand. And from everything a little remains. / Oh, open the bottles of lotion / and smooth / the cruel, unbearable odor of memory. Sample text Love… What gives our Romance its distinctive craveability is the psychic mellowing process perfected by Love itself. Before our new Romance is stored in barrels to age, it’s filtered through ten feet of human psyche culled from hopeless romantics everywhere. Psychic mellowing…drop by drop, makes Love’s Romance uncommonly addicting. It hooks more people and takes about twice as long to kick. But we think it’s worth it. As our fans say “Every day we drink it, we’ll drink it another day.” Sample text Anger: This authentic Irish Classic Emotion is made from the finest quality genes in the heartland of Ireland. A subtle blend of fresh Irish Want and mellow irish Despair produces a memorable emotion and experience. To enjoy it at its best, store for six months or more and when opened, share it with your entire family. Enjoy it straight up, with Depression, or in Solitude. Sample text Euphoria: The legend began over 100 years ago in New Orleans when it was discovered that this smoothest of spirits could instantly dispel boredom, anguish and despair. Over the years its reputation and popularity spread, establishing it as part of America’s need for escape. Today, America’s “take it easy drink” is enjoyed straight, on the rocks or mixed with your favorite defense mechanism. Sample text Depression: / Depression is the darkest spirit produced by the human mind. Ever ready to take over in times of stress, this spirit has been passed down for centuries, from generation to generation, and remains as rich and strongly felt today as it was for your great-grandfather. It is best appreciated after a hard day at the office, or maybe when unexpected guests arrive. It’s smooth, dark mood is guaranteed to outlast all others.

Prints will be available soon. “Sweet Euphoria mine is the heart you own / Lost the grace of the hands that harmed you / In the daze of a thousand yawns / Lost my love, as it is I’m truly gone / In your morning I will sleep / Fire on an open palm / Death for Jesus and plastic armies / Wouldn’t bring me back again / Sweet as ether eyes I’m blind to them And in your waking hour / Time wilts like flowers / Sleeping on land-mine pillows / Tired angels save my love for the lasting one Sweet Euphoria mine is the heart you stole / Touched and broken are the things you love / Using stars to light your candles / Warms my face but I can’t remember yours / Gone are your dandelions falling like mine / Falling like daydream mangos / Diving swallows / Save my love / Save my love / Save my love for the lasting one. Sweet euphoria.” -Cornell

  • This was a bit free form, as in I painted things until something emerged that inspired me to go in a certain direction. More emotive than technical, to me it is the representation of the dizzy, happy sort of feelings one gets when meeting a very special someone. I called it ‘Boy Meets Girl’ because the face emerged as a female and I’m not into lesbianism, thank you. For the record, I also don’t see myself as a boy. lol Just, I’m pretty sure male and female have pretty much the same sort of feelings in the same sort of circumstances, and, plus, there is that song, which I used to hate and now rather enjoy.

  • A most incredible church at Sternberg (near Velden in Austria). Perched precariously on top of the mountain, this church enjoys incredible views over the valley and lakes below. Also from the same beautiful church: Mozart and the euphoria of singing, singing, singing… When I embarked upon my journey at the beginning of this year, I made a list of things that I wished to explore or enjoy… in my quest to overcome my terrible afflictions with depression, anxiety, insecurity, guilt and anger. It was an ambitious list, for a man in my state of mind at the time: In my first few weeks, I managed to successfully tick off just about everything on my list… except for the ‘choir bit’. So, this week… I finally joined a choir. And not just your average backyard choir… but an incredibly talented bunch of people who call themselves the Gold Coast City Choir. I have thrown myself in at the deep end and committed to joining the group, as they prepare for their busy Easter performance schedule. Amongst the song list for their Easter recital is the hauntingly rich and intoxicatingly powerful “Requiem Mass” by Mozart (one of my newly discovered favourites is Lacrymosa). Over the past few days, I have completely immersed myself in the world of Mozart. It has been twenty years since I read sheet music, I have never before sang in a choir and had never listened to ‘Requiem Mass’ until this week. But goodness, it just feels so very right. Mozart is now playing in my world… every waking hour (I even wrap my MP3 Player in plastic bags to listen to Requiem Mass whilst kayaking…. oh bliss….). It is such a dream to be singing this beautiful music. / All spruced up and heading off to my very first choir session… Some photos from the Choir’s website ... So. With my mind filled with all things Mozart and Requiem Mass, this image just seemed to flow out of my mind… a church in Austria (the birthplace of Mozart) under full moon on a rather haunting night: [Creative Effects: Contrast/brightness/shadow adjustments, Colour Removal, Blue Photo Filter, Three Omni Spotlights with Photoshop]

  • I believe. Self-portrait. And… I’ll leave you to wonder how I did that position… / / When looking at this, this song (which is all about euphoria, loving life and being in love and losing your self in making love to someone) by Marillion (my favourite band) comes to mind: Enlightened – by Marillion Bound up in this energy ball again / Laughing and bouncin’ off the magic / Rollin’ under like a surfboard in a wave / Washin’ me up …I want to do it again Entwined in her arms / Spinning around and submarine beneath the deep of her / Climbing the forks of the lightning / Building a rod for my back it’s all right, it’s all right Dreamin’ a dream that only the sleepless know / Chilling the afternoon in “Viva Vida” / Watchin’ the sun slide down the avenue / So real… I feel… / Dizzy to fever with this love / The blues and the greys are waved away inside a day with her / Riding the forks of the lightning / Feeling the sparks along my back it’s all right, it’s all right I thought I was born to take and to damage / But I’m giving and healing and feeling / Ultramarine and ultra-serene / Climbing the forks of the lightning / She told me today it’ll be okay it’s all right, it’s all right I’m a submarine in this ocean
