Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (no 2 from series of 3 re-worked). Shot two seperate models & P/S combined them. I also draw in & enhanced part of the headpeice, the body, the dress, added a fringe to the face, hid the eyes, made the features more angular, blew up the lips, created cheekbones, reworked the branches, filtered wallpaper effects, extended the chandelier, added lacework/flower elements, desaturated the lot & added a sepia tone. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers.
Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Quite an amazing place…. / Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (1 from series of 6 – redesigned from 2004/5 Japanese Series). Re-worked combining two from the series. I shot the tree, flowers & combined them in P/S with drawn elements & filtered the lot. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers. Generally I tire of my artwork yet still love this series to this day.

I like this one the best of the three as I think it has more character, the pelicans seem to agree. No sunset at all, but some lovely light and cloud made up for it. Ok I will confess I am in love with Edward Cullen. Who isn’t! I am a little Twilight obsessed at the moment and Megan Dacy sent me a bmail suggesting I have a go at creating something Twilightesque. I love a challenge….and challenging it was! So here it is :) I hope you like it! I want to thank Paul V for being such an amazing model! You are such a delight to work with! xox Vonne The end is simply a new beginning. We shed the shell that is our body and are transformed to pure energy as we return home.

This photograph is a sunrise shot taken at Halona Cove on O’ahu’s eastern shore. The sun appeared to be rising straight out of Haleakala or “House of the Sun” on Maui. Halona Cove is also known as “From Here to Eternity” Beach. This is the location where Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster embraced in the surf in a memorable, steamy scene from the movie of that title. Canon 30D, EF 18-55 lens, polarizer.
“O my Father, thou that dwellest / In the high and glorious place, / When shall I regain thy presence / And again behold thy face? / In thy holy habitation, / Did my spirit once reside? / In my first primeval childhood / Was I nurtured near thy side?” / / “For a wise and glorious purpose / Thou hast placed me here on earth / And withheld the recollection / Of my former friends and birth; / Yet ofttimes a secret something / Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,” / And I felt that I had wandered / From a more exalted sphere.” / / “I had learned to call thee Father, / Thru thy Spirit from on high, / But, until the key of knowledge / Was restored, I knew not why. / In the heav’ns are parents single? / No, the thought makes reason stare! / Truth is reason; truth eternal / Tells me I’ve a mother there.” “When I leave this frail existence, / When I lay this mortal by, / Father, Mother, may I meet you / In your royal courts on high? / Then, at length, when I’ve completed / All you sent me forth to do, / With your mutual approbation / Let me come and dwell with you.” “O My Father” is a Latter-day Saint (LDS or Mormon) hymn written by Eliza R. Oil Pastel And Acrylic Concept: This is one of the many in Ophelia’s Love Encounters Series, it’s her experience of many facets of this wonderful thing called LOVE.. This is what she has to say about love today : “Love is like the sun, it never fails to pledge its’ faithfulness everyday.” / You can view and buy my other “Love Is Like The Sun” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:
Took a different approach for the photoshpcreative07 competition and decided to reverse the concept. Here a lone survivor condemned to a future of infinite chaos manages to escape back into a alternate past of infinite possibility. This could be a physical escape or projected from within the travellers mind; an internal escape to fantasy, much like the ending of Brazil. Have since sold the image for use on the cover of the Griffith Review – yay.
An acrylic painting on wooden color palette. The song “Paint My Love” by Michael Learns To Rock happens to be Ophelia The Owl’s favourite love song! :D You can view and buy my other “Paint My Love” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

Atop mount Emei, one of four sacred buddhist mountains in China, a couple or two friends seal their partnership for eternity by locking a padlock on the summit and then throwing the keys in to the abys. / the locks then remain forevermore, and even though their names have rusted off, they will be permanently joined in eternity.

The human sat alone, head hanging down. / Tears fell silently. / They felt so empty, even the pain was a welcome embrace, so when a hand touched upon their shoulder they did not have the strength to look up. “Go away!” / said the human, not even knowing what they wanted. / “I want to be left alone….I ….” / Yet all the while thinking / “Please don’t go away, I don’t want to be alone” / but when they glanced up, there was no one there, just a shift in the light and the hint of warmth on the air. The Angel spoke from nowhere, and everywhere. You thought your love would last forever… / But it did not. / You thought that fire in your heart would never fade, / But it slowly died. / You thought that the fire in the other’s eyes would never grow dim, yet it suddenly burned out…and was gone. / How cheated you feel – What a waste! You grieve, you hurt – oh! how you hurt for all you feel you have lost. / It seems the warmth, the light, the love has gone… / That nothing is left…. But remember this… True love knows three flames – / It is a sacred trinity. When two flames unite, they create a third flame that burns more brightly than both that created it. / This mysterious alchemy is of another dimension. / It cannot be seen with human eyes, it cannot be touched with human hands, but sometimes, if you are quiet and still and truly believe, it can be felt with the human heart. / Once lit, this flame burns forever. / It cannot be measured or contained in human terms. / Yet long after those two souls have burned themselves out, when time and reason and humanity have worn down the passion of their union, or regardless, their journey calls them onto different paths, / The fire of their creation remains, / A light that shines eternally / In a dark and longing world. Love may be over / In your eyes / But in the eyes of the universe, / What your love created / What your heart set free, / Will live on, / A celebration of what once was and will always be. True love creates three flames – / And one will burn forever. (This image was created to inject some warmth and hope back into the lives of two dear friends who are hurting right now….their own flames have died down, leaving them cold, shattered and grieving. To all who hurt this way, I know only too well how cold it can be….. may the energy of this image bring back a little of what you need to believe again…..love xoxox)
