Coffee cup
Piece 5 in the collection of “Coffee Girls” by Bryan C.
This very timely still life study was photographed inside my favourite caffeine oasis, the Créma Espresso Bar, right beside the Hastings River in Port Macquarie , NSW, Australia on a lovely autumn afternoon. I was inside because there were no seats left outside and I became bored, making this shot to fill in time. I shot this just over two years ago with my faithful ol’ Fuji S5500. No tripod but I was propped on both elbows and kept very, very still. Fuji S5500: f/3.1 @ 1/40sec and ISO 100. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3. latte art cup with the real thing…..
Images came together while doing some work for the Seattle Barista Academy…
Sicilian espresso with a slice of lemon on lace with chocolates painted entirely with espresso coffee.

In my dreams I think of the strangest things…......especially when it comes to coffee…...
While walking down Main Street in Seal Beach I stopped to get myself a cup of coffee and saw these buttons. I had to get a shot for you Wendy! / /
A nice rosetta and some etching…
THE SUBJECT: / This poor girl waited on the corner, hardly moving from that spot, for half an hour for someone who did not turn up. She eventually turned on her heel and walked off to the bus stop. THE LOCATION: / Across the road from my favourite caffeine oasis, the new Créma Espresso Bar, in the CBD of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. THE MAKING of ‘Sale’: / I kept my eye on her for most of the time she stood waiting, hoping like mad that she would move out into the light and stand in a position that had the least distractions in the near background. / Eventually she did and with my camera preset I was able to make this shot. / The bonus for me was that trio of boys who stopped to eat ice creams. This added another interesting element to the scene. / Fuji S5500: RAW, Manual settings of f/4.9 @ 1/2000sec, ISO864, Hand held table supported. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3. I am the director of the Seattle Barista Academy and this mocha was made during the filming of a segment for the Food Network show in which one of our baristas demonstrates how to make latte art in a Mocha…..
mmmmmm espresso!
This sign from a cafe from Sydney’s Walsh Bay caught my eye. Playing with it in InDesign and adding some text and background I found myself musing about good coffee and how it enriches our lives …
