Taken Nikon D40, 18-55mm, at 18mm. A winters day in Spain. As it goes it didn’t actually rain and as the day ends it is brilliant sunshine. / /

We went for a bit of a hike today to see the Bateria Cenizas, Costa Calida, South East Spain. It is an hours uphill walk from the road. I took 175 pictures so i guess you will all bored with them by the time I have finished! So the first shot is a view looking down onto Portman Bay. There is another Bateria down by the lighthouse. This stretch of coastline has various military installations dating from around 1930. All are abandoned now. Portman itself was a thriving mining area dating back as far as the Romans up until the 1970’s. Even today there is some open quarrying. In the next bay you can see the historical natural harbour of Cartagena. You can see the top of the oil refinery which is sited at it’s entrance. MAP Started photography May 2008
A wild lavender type flower growing on the track leading to Bateria de Cenizas, Costa Calida, Spain with Portman Bay in the background. Nikon D40 18-55mm MAP
These windows were in a room under the look out tower, Bateria Cenizas, Costa Calida, Spain See my other images from this and other military installations around Cartagena (They are amongst my Spanish photos!) MAP Nikon D40 18-55mm
This headland stretches out towards La Manga strip, which can just be seen to the left of the headland. It is a designated natural park, which will protect it from greedy and corrupt local councils and builders! MAP
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and Príncipe Felipe Science Museum at the Cuidad de las Artes y de las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) Valencia. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, I spent a couple of hours here one sunset, waiting for the right light. Single shot processed three times using Adobe Camera Raw and then HDR processed using Photomatix 3.
Taken at the San Miguel fiesta last Saturday 8th August 2009. Sorry I haven’t been around much, but it’s been too hot! Moving back to teh UK next month so looking forward to turning my hand to green landscapes and moving water! Oh and grey cloudy rainy skies!!!!! Nikon D40 18-55mm @55mm This image was extracted from the original which had a very busy messy, cluttered and unattractive background! 2 textures added, the stone one by Johanne Brunet placed behind the extracted horse and rider and opacity reduced a bit and the other is a piece of my sky blended onto hue I think!!!! LOL I never pay that much attention!
