Snail on Snake plant
Because the questions has been asked a few times: the snail was there before I took the shot, that’s not an arrangement, just nature. / Parce que la question est revenue plusieurs fois: l’escargot était là avant que je prenne la photo, ce n’est pas une mise en scène, juste la nature.
Escargot on the way out of the mini snail farm. Sort of escaping the menu. Have a look at my other photos. For example: / / / / / / / / / / Or browse through one of my categories flower / poppy / water / leaf / other / reflection / macro / insect
I took this photo of a snail on a gate (didn’t make sense to me why it should be 1 meter above ground level) in France on a farm early in the morning. Cropped this shot to show the details better. The French word escargot means snail; it is akin to old Occitan escaragol and Catalan cargol. In any case … snail. In France, two species native to France are normally used for preparing escargots. That’s if that what you wish to dine on ….
Picture taken in summer 2007 at my friend Patty-Lou’s summer house who was empty as she was fighting a breast cancer. Now she’s done with chemo and the tumor has been totally removed. She will be back this summer and this is the most fantastic news I ever heard. This work is dedicated to her, her husband and their two daughters.
Two snails dancing
I found this little guy munching away in my garden this morning. It is the European Brown Snail Helix aspersa introduced to the US by a French emigrant in the early 1800s as a food source. It has spread throughout North America but never caught on as food. Personally I’d rather have a good Puget Sound oyster (Olympias are the best) on the half-shell.
Sam came over to play again today (thanks Sam had a ball as always) :) / These lovely snails behaved really well for us (aparf from one of them foaming a bit at the start). Alana then released them back into the garden!!
the second of a snail serie I did last spring / I am not sure of the english translation (title) but looking at the pose of the lovely snails should give you a clue ;) they also form a heart ! / (as is … entered in “as is” challenge) / - / / MCN: CDC9D-ABE2D-AD528 / - / / /

When I was little and my family was gardening I’d always take it upon myself to rescue the snails. Instead of squashing them, I’d just sneak them into another part of the garden. Go snails! Graphite, coloured pencil and gouache on mountboard.

Well I usually tread on any snails which the blue tongue lizards have missed, but this morning was a bit different. I spotted Sigmund. don’t know how old he is but he is only a few mm long. How could I exterminate this baby? Well now he has moved into the family and I will raise him (I hope) and then release him in some pleasant spot in someone else’s garden. I have no idea how fast snails grow, so this is a bit of an experiment. I hope he/she ( I understand snails are bi) / enjoys his/her time in my house. / See how tiny he/she is on my wrist watch!!!!! Look how transparent his shell is. Isn’t he a darling? / / / / c / Canon 350D f2.8 1/20 ISO 200
