Click here for a short Wikipedia entry on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_Tan_Alley / http://vancouverisland.kulshan.com/British_Columbia/Vancouver_Island/Capital_Area/Victoria/Attractions/Fan_Tan_Alley.htm And as for the ermine, or polecat – I took her picture out by an abandoned house in the middle of a wheat field! I’ll post a real picture of her soon. :D

  • shiro and kuro
    by shiro

    US$23.94

The original shiro and kuro were bears, recently they’ve become stoats, or possibly pine martens, I’m not sure, some such creature anyways. X3 Just trying to find a nice design for them here, this one’s probably a bit over the top but I kinda liked it.

  • Maybe you’ve read the “His Dark Materials” trilogy by Phillip Pullman, or just “The Golden Compass” – truly steampunk for the younger set! The first in a set, here is my illustration of Lyra with her daemon Pantaliamon (in ferret form) posed in front of her beloved Oxford with a compass in the upper left corner. She’s got her alethiometer stowed in the bundle she’s carrying. This original artwork is copyright Ramona Szczerba 2008. Image cannot be reproduced without my express written permission. Thanks!

  • These guys were designed to pretty up my website, just messing around twisting them a bit! XD”

  • A sticker design I made a couple months ago to promote my website. / Sadly I don’t think the stickers caused a single hit to my site but on the positive side I got to illustrate shiro and kuro which I’d been meaning to do for some months previous!

  • Inquisitive Stoat
    by wildlifephoto

    US$4.32–US$74.10

I spotted this stoat in our garden and managed to grab a couple of swift shots before is disappeared. In this image it is peering out from under a footbridge across a small stream.

  • White Ermine Moth
    by Sharon Perrett

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I found this beautiful moth on my net curtains yesterday. I have been leaving my windows open and the light blazing, I have had a wonderful selection of moths coming in and letting me take their picture LOL.Taken in Havant, Hampshire Wingspan 34-48 mm. / Widely distributed and fairly common over much of Britain, there is considerable variation in the degree of black speckling, and in certain parts of Scotland, there are forms with a buffish ground colour. / It generally flies from May to July, sometimes later in the south. / The hairy larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants. *Info from UK Moths

  • Deep, in a small, dark corner / Of my heart, You lived. / How did you survive down there, / Starved for oxygen and light? I didn’t know you lingered still. / Had no idea an ember yet remained. / Couldn’t perceive a whisper of breath / Had managed to exist… / All those years. Even tho’ you were dead to me, / Every now and then / I would look at you and wonder…. / Examining the evidence of your passing, / Wistfully remembering / The way it was between the two of us. I recalled the way you looked at me, / Your voice, your touch, your smell, / Your jet black hair, and eyes of blue. / But then again, into the dark recesses / Of my mind and heart, I’d shut the door, / Once more on you. The pain was so immense, I ceased to feel. / I could not utter your name out loud, / Dare not allow it to escape my lips, / Let alone whisper it into the breeze, / Lest my heart remember, / And start to grieve, once more. Sometimes my mind played little tricks. / I wondered if I had you conjured up. / Had you ever existed at all, / Or were you just a figment / Of my imagination? Then I remembered your kisses / Your arm around me as you walked me home / The powder blue of your tender eyes / And how your face lit up / When you saw me, and you smiled. / And I’d wonder how you were, / And what were you doing now? / But then I’d put you all away, / Deep down in that box, somehow. Still, the evidence did not lie, / The one small thing that said you had been mine - / A treasured possession / With which I could not part, / The only thing that I had kept / For it was proof, that you had been, / And I loved it, with my heart. A piece of Ermine, black and white, / Was what you gave to me, / And I have treasured it all my life, / For all eternity… The years they came / And time rolled by / While deep in my heart / You continued to lie / Barely a breath to keep you alive / And yet my love, you did survive. Now I know this story is perfectly true / Because I have once again found you / Your name once more I can say with pride / No more my love, do I have to hide / My heart rejoices and is filled with glee / Because I love you, and you love me. (Awwwwwww) ........the end.
