  • This photo was taken at the home of famous Australian artist Hans Heysen. It is called ‘The Cedars’ and is located at Hahndorf, South Australia. He painted one of his best known paintings at this very spot – of his wife using the sewing machine at the window. In the moment I was there, I felt the same sense of tranquility that comes through in the painting – and tried to capture it with my camera.

  • Taken at Captains Cottage Museum in Murray Bridge. I thought their grouping altogether was just marvelous – producing lots of lines. I wondered if they were used by the same workman, or were collected from various different places.

  • Neither material is really silk or satin, but I saw this while sorting the washing and loved the contrast of the two colours and fabrics next to each other.

  • My father, drifting off for a snooze after a Christmas barbeque held about 4 years ago. Acrylic paint on canvas board.

  • I painted this tree at Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens, Mt Lofty, South Australia in 2005. Acrylic on canvas board. I loved the mixture of colours and the light filtering through the leaves on the tree.

  • A small cottage at Auburn, Clare Valley, South Australia. Painted in 2005. Acrylic paint on canvas. From a series of 4 that includes “Shop at Burra” & “Antique Shop at Mintaro”.

  • This eucalyptus blossom is growing at the moment on gum trees in the creek at Redwood Park. The birds are feasting on it everyday creating a lovely yellow carpet on the road and the footpath.

  • Taken on one of the many large eucalyptus trees in the creek at Redwood Park.

  • Playing around with my sewing box on the weekend, I took this shot.

  • I have a button tin at home and wnet through it to find all the purple buttons for this shot.

  • Acrylic on canvas painting from the year 2005 of an antique shop in Mintaro, Clare Valley, South Australia. From the same series as ‘Shop at Burra’ and ‘Cottage at Auburn’ that were all painted at the same time.

  • I do not know the technical name for these Banksia’s but they grow everywhere on the side of the road in Western Australia. We saw thousands of them during our trip in March and they looked absolutely wonderful.

  • An old padlock on a door to an old chest in a small historical display in Augusta, Western Australia. Taken on holdiay March 2008. I loved the ancient look to the padlock with the bumps all over it.

  • A giant Karri tree in the forest near Pemberton and the tree Top Walk in Western Australia. Taken on holiday in March this year.

  • A tawny frogmouth taken at the Eagles Heritage Wildlife Centre, Margaret River, Western Australia. I fell in love with these birds from the moment I saw them. They have such character. Taken on holiday in March 2008.

  • Nature’s Window in Kalbarri National Park, Western Australia. The window framed in the picture is the Murchison River which flows through the length of the park. Taken on holiday in March 2008.

  • A mime artist performing in front of the silver balls, Rundle Mall in Adelaide, South Australia. With his gestures, I thought he was saying, ‘I once caught a fish this big…”

  • A shot of one of the famous sculptures near the the Festival Theatre in Adelaide, South Australia.

  • Gum nuts on a flowering eucalypt not far from my house, Redwood Park, South Australia.

  • Taken at a wedding in December last year. The grandfather of the groom was looking a little bit tired and new great grandson went up to him and extended his arm as if to say, “It’s okay, Pa. I’ll look after you”. There is 80 years difference between the two of them, but the connection was instant.

  • Taken on Grenfell Street, Adelaide, South Australia

  • The beautiful patterns in a rock laying at Drumminor Wetlands, near Redwood Park, South Australia.

  • Poached Egg Daisies growing wild on the edge of the Stuart Highway, between Glendambo and Coober Pedy, South Australia.

  • Kanyacka Waterhole, near Hawker, South Australia. I have a painting of the same shot in my gallery also.
