Pistol photo taken at Brush Arbor in Kentucky where I was allowed to run free with no one around to get into the photos, I had a field day. Just me, my wife, and my dog.
Fort Meigs State Memorial Park—Perrysburg, Ohio When two new States were admitted to the Union (Kentucky and Vermont), a resolution was adopted in January of 1794, expanding the flag to 15 stars and 15 stripes. This flag was the official flag of our country from 1795 to 1818, and was prominent in many historic events. It inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the bombardment of Fort McHenry; it was the first flag to be flown over a fortress of the Old World when American Marine and Naval forces raised it above the pirate stronghold in Tripoli on April 27, 1805; it was the ensign of American forces in the Battle of Lake Erie in September of 1813; and it was flown by General Jackson in New Orleans in January of 1815. The five Presidents who served under this flag were; George Washington (1789-1797), John Adams (1797-1801), Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), James Madison (1809-1817), and James Monroe (1817-1825).
WATER, it’s provoking a lot of debate especially in farming circles. This image was inspired by a competition on the water theme, with stock, pasture, trees,..... everthing dependent on what falls from the sky. Taken with a Canon eos 400 d and kit 18-55 lens. No photo work, held the tap in my left hand and timed the setting sun for lighting.

This is what gas station attendants will (hopefully) look like in the future! A pinup in the future? We were on our way home from an event we were set-up at and we stopped for gas at around 5 AM & I took some pictures of my wife filling up the tank. I used one of them to make this!
Another image from my visit to Manor Farm. I was struck by the petrol pump in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere. I am not sure how this shot makes me feel. Lonely and small, or free and uninhibited. I will eventually add a poem to this shot. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll / 28-300mm IS zoom lens / Cokin ND 8 Graduated Grey 121 / f/22 / 1/10 / ISO 200 /

Come o’er the sea, / Maiden with me, / Mine through sunshine, storm, and snows; / Seasons may roll, / But the true soul / Burns the same, where’er it goes. / Let fate frown on, so we love and part not; / ‘Tis life where thou art, ‘tis death were thou are not. / Then come o’er the sea, / Maiden with me, / Come wherever the wild wind blows; / Seasons may roll, / But the true soul / Burns the same, where’er it goes. Display rack, as seen on the tropical island of Langkawi, Malaysia. Shot in 2008 with a Pentax K100D and Sigma 18-125mm lens. My work is never cropped or post-edited in any way. What you see is what I shoot. Featured in 60’s GLORY, August 2009.
My attempt at TTV, only without the vintage camera. I am very intrigued by this process and thought i would try my hand at getting the effects with the help of PS CS4 & my Sony DSC-H10. In time, I will find myself a good old vintage camera and attempt the real process. This is taken in Saskatchewan on the way from Saskatoon to Prince Albert . . . on a property that has all these original buildings, farm equipment and all things nostalgic, when life was much more simple!! I couldn’t say exactly where it was . . but i do know where the turn-off is :-) TTV frame courtesy DLSdesigns on flickr.
And where was then thy fearless flight? / “O’er the dark, mysterious sea, / To lands that caught the setting light, / The cradle of liberty. / There on the silent and lonely shore, / For ages I watched alone, / And the world, in its darkness, asked no more / Where the glorious bird had flown.--James Gates Percival / /
It was after dark in Melbourne, and the lights were being switched off at home. I was walking through the kitchen when I noticed that someone had left a miniature figure of Po, the Kung Fu Panda, on the island bench. There was only one light on, about ten metres away – so the shadow was not the sharpest but it was still sufficiently interesting for me to get my camera out. Po by himself was not a great shot, but when I moved back slightly and included the sharper image of the handle of a coffee mug, things got far more interesting! Shot without a tripod. I do not crop, enhance or edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 0.5 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm. This was shot at Luna Park, Sydney, late in the evening on Easter Saturday this year. These costumed staff members were consummate professionals, exchanging banter with holiday-makers – and never to busy to pose for photographs with tourists. But I wanted a completely unposed, natural shot to highlight their costumes, and I reckon I shot four or five impromptu frames before I got this shot. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Taken with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/90 sec, ISO 400, focal length 68mm. Featured in COLOR AND LIGHT, July 2009. This shot was taken on a scorching summer day at Kings Park in Perth in January this year. The park, which overlooks the Swan River, covers a larger area than New York’s Central Park – and is paradise for a nature lover or photographer. As I walked away from the reflecting pool with its Eternal Flame, I noticed these pink fringed gumnuts against the dark green foliage – so I just hit the trigger as I walked past.. If you’re wondering what this shot depicts, I’ll give you a clue. It’s metallic, as you can see from the rivets along the silver portion. Need another clue? The object is very uplifting! And the third and final clue – this shot was taken at the Australian International Air Show at Avalon Airport in 2007. It’s simply a winglet – the upswept portion of an aircraft wingtip. I had a rare opportunity to stand directly under the port wing of a Qantas Boeing 737 to shoot the graceful, sweeping curve against a clearing sky. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 38mm AvalonAirShow2007-7795
This street vendor in Kuala Lumpur was selling – you guessed it – mini umbrella-hats! Even before we bought some from him, I asked if I could take some shots of his headgear and he laughingly gave me permission. He actually struck a Hollywood pose for me, but I prefer this shot because he’s actually doing business here, not hamming it up for the camera. It’s not every day you see a vendor who wears his wares! I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/45 sec, ISO 400, focal length 45mm. Featured by my co-host in ANYTHING WE WEAR, INCLUDING BLING, September 2009. Malaysia2009-7204
Last Chance for gas before we cross the desert on Route 66. Come Go With Me
This display of produce was carefully arranged on a wooden crate in the back of a vintage Chevrolet on display at the 2007 Royal Melbourne Show. Because we were indoors and under cover in a pavilion, the light wasn’t the best. Accordingly, I used the bottles in the foreground to emphasise the sharpness of the pumpkins, green and red apples and tantalising grapes as the main subject in the background. It was only after I viewed this shot full-size on my computer that I realised the grapes were the only artificial element in the display! I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way.
