  • A friends horse’s eye. Cherokee is a very old horse. She suffers with a very sway back, I can’t imagine how that has to hurt a horse for it’s back to dip that way. Her owner wanted photos of her, having just lost another old horse from old age. The owner is wonderful to these animals, they have been with her from the time they were young and she still cares for them as they grow feeble. She is indeed a super caretaker of the animals who live with her! (oh and for the record, Cherokee was not feeling at all like having her photo taken this day and left when she saw the camera and went to the back of the pasture to stay until I left!)

  • Sammy has a big boy attitude!

  • Little Madison and Half-Pint the miniature horse. They can overcome anything as long as they are together..

  • My nephew Caleb was a source of some interest to the lead mare of the Lester’s Farm herd.

  • Baby donkey grazing. Azores islands, Portugal.

  • “Molly The Hungry Horse” takes time out for a late afternoon snack of hay. She was personable enough to give us a glance, even as we interrupted her meal. I’m taken by the shock of hair in her eyes, her long whiskers, and the morsels of hay protruding from her mouth. Cuteness aside, horses are beautiful and noble animals. Image c Lynda Lehmann.

  • My sister and our new colt Turbo… / My father bought Turbo a few months ago, he’s very playful and loves human company. / Dad has just broken him in, he never bucked or kicked out once. He was more like ‘ah, so this is what happens…. what next?’ / Always looking for mischeif he even runs off with the saddle cloth after a ride just to get everyone running after him…

  • Featured Card in Best from Around the Barnyard on November 19th, 2009. A hungry burro enjoying some hay on a warm spring day.

  • Open pasture farm call shoot. Taken just before sunset with a Sony Alpha A-100 DSLR.

  • Reflection of two Halflingers

  • A horse stands guard over it’s blindfolded, napping companion in a pasture in rural Ontario.

  • We found this little guy on a farm, between Choteau and Bynum, Montana. His mom came close to the fence to visit with us, so he came fairly close also. I took several photos of him, but this one was the best. He sure was cute with the evening light bathing his coat and his forelock sticking straight up! Photo taken with a Nikon D300, hand held, 70-300 mm lens. / Thank you!

  • This is one of the rodeo broncs, that was at the Augusta Rodeo, in Augusta, Montana. His face is the typical face you’d expect from a rodeo bronc! I named him “Kessler” because he was one of the Kessler Rodeo Stock broncs…

  • I could have spent 5 hours at the bronc pens, taking photos of the broncs and the things they did. But that would have been a long time for Robert to stand and wait for me! So I took pity on him! :) To me, the broncs have so much personality and a whole lot of character… These horses were at the Augusta Rodeo, in Augusta, Montana. It’s a pretty famous rodeo for a small town…I can remember watching Benny Reynolds here when I was a kid! Nikon D300 / 70-300 mm lens
