Wild horse in Utah’s west desert.
Angel and Iris (left and right respectively) are mother and daughter. They have a pretty tight bond and I sat in the pasture (rain soaked) for about 3 hours waiting to catch this opportunity! For fun, I have also posted a picture of Iris eating my tripod while I was changing lens! This image has sold as a framed print in Tigert Art Gallery, Vermillion, South Dakota.
Took this picture today. A little photoshop and this is what I came up with. Love to hear what you think of it:) Shot with Nikon D60 55-200 AF VR lens.
WIld horse in Utah. This is the one and only wild horse that I named. I named him Marv after a Native American friend of mine. The similarities between the horse and my friend were amazing. The long flowing black hair and the pride they both portray is inspiring. I haven’t seen Marv for a long time, I don’t know what happend to him. I look for him everytime I go out and he is nowhere to be found. So here is to Marv! /

As I originally only had a small piece of sky when I was fiddling with the extract tool, I have now redone this picture, using a bigger and new piece of sky! This is the original version FEATURED HOMEPAGE 04.11.08 / This would make a lovely card for any equestrian loving person, be it, Birthday, Thank You, any occasion….... Oils on stretched canvas 1.02mx1.02m 2004 / Collection of the artist. This painting represents my interpretation of the Celtic Horse Goddess, Epona – a blending of the feminine within what appears to be a masculine horse, the woman’s silhouette in black combined with the white of the horse, yin & yang. Her hand & hair flow into the mane like tree roots, she is part of the earth, yet also the air – mythical, magical yet also a part of Mother Nature. Look on top of the mountain – for the snowline is in the shape of a horse lying on its side. My inspiration for this painting was my love of coloured horses, actually one of my own blue-eyed Paints. No two Paint Horses are alike, each has it’s own unique colour & pattern. Often where the hair colours meet the markings will have an outline which is known as a ‘watermark’. This one is grey – (black blended into white). In Paint Horse terms the above horse would be called a ‘splash white overo.’ This painting won a Highly Commended & two People’s Choice awards. / Featured in SIMPLY HORSES GROUP – December 2008 / Featured in THE DIVINE FEMININE GROUP – May 2009 / Top Ten in Elemental Goddess Challenge THE DIVINE FEMINE GROUP – May 2009 / Featured in ALL THOSE COLOURFUL PAINTS & PINTOS – June 2009

This horse, Rivendell’s Jack Sparrow, belongs to my brother and sister-in-law, who own Rivendell Farm in Alabama. Jack is a Connemara pony. His sire, Grange Finn Sparrow, was winner of the American Connemara Pony Society HALL OF FAME PERFORMANCE AWARDS in 1995, was known as a Champion Jumper in Ireland, and is considered the “apex” of Connemara jumping breeding. He is sire of the Canadian eventer, Windswept, Sparrow Cappuccino, and many more.
“Coming Down From Black Mountain” is a signed, original, oil painting. The romance of the West, the Cowboy and Horses is a subject I always return to. I live both in Colorado and in Nevada, so I have an endless supply of personal photography that I draw from for my paintings. / Thank you for viewing my art. VIEW mygallery / View susan’szazzle /
