This t-shirt is another in my line of cards, prints, and clothing geared towards bringing increased awareness to the plight faced by the world’s flora and fauna. this t-shirt, based upon my series of frog, toad, and salamander photographs, depicts the green treefrog, common or Eastern toad, and spotted salamander. They have all been treated with a watercolor filter in photoshop for added depth and detail. The quote on the bottom of the shirt reads: “In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.” ~Baba Dioum, Senegalese ecologist. This is obviously not an original idea, and I want to thank both ECGardner and Angelique Brunas for their works along these lines that motivated me to explore my own creativity. I hope they do not mind my using their work as a basis for my inspiration, and I am still working to achieve the balance, beauty, and artistry they have exhibited through their respective nature based collages! I will give folks a while to guess what the various panes are comprised of, they should be pretty easy to figure out, later I will insert the proper descriptions of their contents. It’s a bit interesting to see a winged and a flightless bird having a barny. The little Adele penguin was outraged by the attack of the Arctic Tern who was defending possible intrusion on their nesting area on a nearby cliff..

The mystical slopes of Forbidden Plateau on Vancouver Island BC, Canada, harbour a secret. Anciently it is said that an entire tribe of people who were pursued by their enemies, disappeared forever into the sacred mists high up on the plateau. A powerful legend that still thrives today. Last official estimated place them at less than 10,000 breeding pairs. / Range Burrowing owls are distributed from the Mississippi to the Pacific and from the Canadian prairie provinces into South America. They are also found in Florida and the Caribbean islands. Burrowing owls have disappeared from much of their historic range. / Behavior Unlike other owls, burrowing owls are active during the day, especially in the spring when they gather food for their large broods. This species of owl prefers open areas with low ground cover. They can often be found perching near their burrow on fence posts and trees. Burrowing owls make a tremulous chuckling or chattering call. They also bob their heads to express excitement or distress. Burrowing owls often nest in loose colonies about 100 yards apart.
