And so the series begins, The Doors of Santa Fe / I simply loved New Mexico and the city of Santa Fe is of no exception…..around every curve and corner, there were photo-opps and one thing that really caught my eye was how the Adobe architecture had all these really old doors….crafted 100s of years ago. The doors, while not always straight and often far from it, provided a nice contrast in color, design, and history to the buildings they often adorned. Thoughts most welcomed! / —John

This is the one you’ve all asked me for… If you are into RB challenges and many groups, one of the biggest frustrations is trying to remember what you have entered in which challenge, and keeping track of which challenges are open. This has been bugging me almost since I joined RB. It took me a while to figure this one out, but here its. Use the link below, to get a report that across the 1100+ groups that are hosted on RB… shows… what challenges are running in each group how long each challenge is running for (open or voting) if you are a member of each group or not what art you have submitted to that challenge, if anything All of these… on one web page (so you can print it) with live links, so that you can directly jump to the group, challenge or art piece UPDATE: 15 January 2009 / New version which fixes single quotes in challenge names, corrected links to your work and an extra option on the login screen to choose if you want to only see “Open” or “Voting” challenges – the default is both. Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with RB, don’t go blaming them if it goes wrong. I created 3 layers with 2 photos of a tree and sunset then blended it with a background to make this image in photoshop CS3. I used a Minolta Dimage Z6 on auto. /

Please check it out if you drive past. 08/09 / The RON RADO Prize is held every year and Ron who was a patron of the arts had a construction company and when he died he left this scholarship to up and coming artist. The brain is the hard drive… the epicentre that drives it all. The ears are our microphones… and our hearts are our bass amps where we feel the sound. One of the greatest joys I can feel is to find a song that touches on such a deep and moving level… thats when the sound travels straight to my heart!! The founding of St Mary’’s is given as 800 AD, it is probable that the church was begun as early as the late 6th century. Deerhurst occupied a position of importance in the territory of the Saxon Hwicce, a subkingdom of Mercia, and the church was the most important in the region. In the year 804 Aethelric, son of King Edmund of the Hwicce, granted land at Deerhurst to the priory, he and his father were probably buried at Deerhurst. In 1016 Edmund Ironside and Canute chose Deerhurst to sign a treaty dividing England between them. In the 11th century Deerhurst was the home of Earl Odda, one of the most powerful of Edward the Confessor’s nobles. Odda was responsible for the chapel which bears his name, which was completed shortly before his death in 1056. After Odda’s death the priory lands were given to the monastery of St Denis, in France, and the chapel passed into the hands of Westminster Abbey. The monastery was later the property of Tewkesbury Abbey, but at the Dissolution of the Monasteries the priory was disbanded and the church became the parish church.
