As the photo comp comes to a close we thought it might be fun to take a journey. First around the world, through some of the entries in the Europe and USA categories and then through the genres. The contrasts of black and white, gritty reportage and street imagery. Striking faces and commercial imagery and finally we’ll stop in some of this worlds amazing nature and landscapes. See you at the other end – and don’t forget to enter if you haven’t already. Entries close at midnight.

I’m doing a bit of work with Kelley, the chick behind Peppermint (a new magazine launching imminently), and she asked me to help spread the word about their Eco-Art competition. For the first ever issue of Peppermint the theme is “When one tugs at a single thing in nature, one finds it attached to the rest of the world”. The deadline is rather tight, so they might accept entries by email as well as snail mail – pop along to their website for their contact details! From the Peppermint website: / Every issue we will be holding a visual art/ design competition, with the intention of helping to spread the good green word, while supporting up and coming creative talent. Art has always been a way of interacting and reaching people with a message, addressing social issues and inspiring change. Have your say and make a difference. A new theme will be announced each issue, and the top three (as chosen by a team of experts, i.e. us!) will be printed in the next magazine, with the winners receiving some great stuff. It can be any form of art – photography, graphic design, painting, sculpture; as long as it falls within the material specs and is your own interpretation of the set theme. MATERIAL SPECS: File supplied on mac-compatible disc, 300dpi, 260mm x 400mm vertical + 6mm bleed. Please also supply a printed visual and brief explanation (approx 30 words) of the ideas behind your work and also explain your technique (20 words). / POST TO: PO BOX 553 MORNINGSIDE 4170 QLD / DEADLINE FOR THEME ONE: 25 July 2008 (The website says the 14th, but this has changed!) / PRIZES: The main winner’s artwork will be printed as a double-page spread in the middle of the magazine. First prize includes 1 tee of your choice from Kowtow, any clothing from Fully Stoked to the value of $40, and an Ooid Belong badge. 2 runners-up will each receive an Ooid Sprout Bag Project bag and a Peppermint t-shirt. Peppermint retains the right to publish artwork in future issues or related media.

As Host of three groups on RB, I have 2 challenges currently running which I would love as much participation in as possible.. If you, or anyone you know would be interested in entering then don’t waste time, because they mean exposure!! In the Paranormal The Norm Group we have ‘Graveyard Ghosts’ In the Angels & Spirit Guides Group we have ‘Your Guardian Angels’ Please check them out, as they close within days. Remember, challenges are a wonderful way to get extra exposure and much needed sales, they are a way to also bring the community of RB together, one of our challenges ran previously which saw the winning image purchased by me.. So with exposure on the groups home page and added opportunities to brand yourself why wouldn’t you participate? Please stop by and check these challenges and other challenges out on RB.. / It makes being an Artist/Photographer even more rewarding. Kaz / x

Hello friends of RB, I’m now co-hosting Anaglyph World and as you can imagine am very excited to have been given the opportunity, we’d love to have more members and we also hope to offer lots of exposure to all you talented artists and photographers who would enjoy making anaglyphs as another source of income, these are not a dying phase but a new way of making your work dimensional.. And certainly would be a fabulous talking piece in any home. / We have a banner challenge running at present which we’d love you to be a part of, if you have thought about making the 3D images but not sure how to I’ve added a few links below where these programs/actions pretty much do it all for you, you just load the image you want to make into an Anaglyph, press a few buttons and wallah! The creations are endless and extremely fun.. Need the program or Action scripts for Photoshop? You can grab a program off the internet called AnaMaker If you click on the name I’ve just added then it should automatically start to download your free copy :0) If you require the action script for Photoshop these are terrific / 3-D Color Action / 3-D BW Action To place the action scripts into Photoshop simply download, right click on the preset and select copy and then paste into: / C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions / Once you have done this you will need to load it into your action scripts by selecting *Load Actions See more on my page A Whole Page For Photoshop It also helps if you can grab yourself some 3D glasses, I got some really cheap on eBay so it might be a good starting place if you don’t have any. I think the ones that are red/cyan are the best :0) have fun! Kaz / x Here’s some things I’ve made:
