The original Endeavour was built in 1765, and set sail in 1768 under the command of Lieutenant James Cook of the Royal Navy. The ship’s voyage played a role of major importance in the fields of Pacific discovery, navigation, and natural science, including the discovery of over 2,600 new species of plants by the ship’s scientists.
This is an Ensign 220. I was given this in the mid 1960’s. It was a step up from the Brownie. /
Seen from the top of Ensign Peak.

Let Freedom Ring…How wonderful to see all the flags in so many different places. I am seeking flags to take to put in a series, I have so many flags to choose from it is amazing. I never realized how many flags people displayed all over the place.
Model – Meluxine These are some outtake/alternates from the same shoot as Apple Blossom Girl – I actually took LOTS of shots from that set and am having strife picking the final shots to use, and since I treat RB as an alt/outtake spot as well as a preview/never before seen/standard portfolio, I figured what the hell ;) This particular pair were shot on my late Grandfather’s Ensign Selfix 820 on god knows what film, Fuji NPS 160 I thiiiiink… or possibly Portra 400NC. I had no idea what to expect, having never put film through the damn thing before, so the fact they worked and looked delightfully dreamy was very cool. These are scanned from the 120 neg, straight off the camera – no editing aside from putting them next to each other and whacking my watermark on them. Woohoo. You can read about the camera here: http://licm.org.uk/livingImage/Selfix820.html Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
Pop Art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in parallel in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop Art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist’s use of the mass produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of Fine Art since Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for contemplation. The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it.
living in japan, liking all things japanese, including the design of both the traditional flag (rising sun) and this naval ensign. thought it would look great on a t with a distressed look.
A few little things of my Gran’s. The little camera is a 1946 Ensign. It was a very popular camera back in her day. A great first camera for the kids..If anybody knows where I can get some film for it here in Australia I’d love to hear from you
Hooray for the Redshirt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshirt_(character) If you can’t get a note from your mum that you’re allergic to alien planet excursions, you may as well face it – You visit strange planets with senior officers and wear a red shirt – you’re a goner! You don’t even get to pass go and collect a kiss of a blue skinned female alien. RB didn’t like the link with brackets – sorry Stay in touch Subscribe to T-Shirt Updates Subscribe to my T-Shirt blog | visit the blog
Model : NIKON D80 / ExposureTime : 1/1000Sec / FNumber : F6.3 / ISOSpeedRatings : 200 / ExposureBiasValue : EV0.0 / MaxApertureValue : F6.3 / MeteringMode : Division / FocalLength : 300.00(mm) HDR treated twice. First in colour and secondly in B&W using Topaz Adjust.
I went back to a previous shot posted here, and made some adjustments to give it a “drawing” finish. / The original background was treated heavily in Topaz Adjust. / My previous post “Red Ensign” was the result of duplicating the colour layer, desaturating it, and then using the eraser for the selective colouring. / This was then run through Topaz Adjust for a second time. What I have done here, is to run the selective coloured file through a pencil filter, copy the pencil layer, open the original again with both the colour and selectively coloured layers, add a new layer and paste into that, the pencil layer. / In the original file I now have three layers. / I deselected the desaturated layer leaving me now with a B&W pencil top layer. / This layer has been left at 100% opacity, but the Fill has been reduced to 66%, / bringing through the texture and colour of the background layer that was originally treated with Topaz Adjust.
Taken at a Steam Fairground , I was surprised as I passed by to see this giant flag under the fairground ride where nearly all the rides were driven by steam.., so I photographed it and now its on Red Bubble !
