It was a cold day and the tide was far out meaning that parts of the beach that are usually cut off by the tide were accessable and I could walk a mile or so along the beach from the car park to reach this spot.

I’d only noticed the cave when the bright red caught the corner of my eye as I was walking along the beach

  • Location: / Reculver, Kent, England Map: / Google Maps Date and Time: / 22 March 2008, 6.20 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/22 : 3 seconds : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / I went to Reculver on a stormy and windy morning with a completly different shot in mind, when I happened to stumble upon this water outlet along the beach. It managed to shield me from the gale force winds for a while if nothing else.

The glow of lights to the far right hand side are that of Folkestone Harbour. Photographs from Folkestone, Kent

  • Location: / Littlestone On Sea, Kent, England Map: / Google Maps Date and Time: / 10 February 2008, 6.46 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/13 : 30 seconds : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / The title was inspired by the magnificent X-Files, with the colour lightening to cerulean blue before it hits the Mulberry Harbour and horizon. This was a particularly cold morning with frost and ice still on the pathways and roads.

  • Long exposure of Perch Rock Lighthouse situated at the mouth of the Mersey in New Brighton.

  • Inspired by Joseph Turner. Lindisfarne Priory and Castle, In Northumberland, (near where I live), as a storm rolls in, from the ever-moody, North Sea! Watercolour on 90lb paper 12”x 8” I loved painting this, and will do a much larger one, in the future.

A cool white balance temperature has enhanced the blues against the backdrop of a firey red sunrising sky. Photographs from St. Margarets Bay, Kent

  • St. Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England August 2008: Sunrise up over the English Channel on one of the most spectacular mornings i’ve witnessed at this location. The sky turned pink for just a minute before the sun rose up over the horizon.

  • Beachyhead Lighthouse, South Coast of England

This was taken on the stretch of shingle beach to the west of Folkestone Harbour about an hour before full tide. Photographs from Folkestone, Kent

  • Painted from a very old photo (1857) of a collier brig. Taken from my wonderful book of North East sailing ships on the coast. / And the ship, background and quay, are painted from the fenland port of Wisbech, on the Lincolnshire coast. The rest of the painting is from my imagination. Watercolour on two rivers, hand-made 140lb paper. / 14” x 21”

  • Location: / Littlestone On Sea, Kent, England Map: / Google Maps Date and Time: / 10 February 2008, 7.40 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/22 : 0.62 seconds : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / Just after the sun had risen on a very cold and frosty morning over the English Channel at Littlestone-on-sea.

  • Location: / Kingsdown, Deal, Kent, England Map: / Google Maps Date and Time: / 10 May 2008, 5.53 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/22 : 13 seconds : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / The ferry sitting waiting for entrance into Dover Harbour meant that a long exposure would contain a sharp and non moving ferry.

  • Location: / St. Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England Map: / Multimap Date and Time: / 16 August 2008, 6.14 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/22 : 1/4 second : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / Known as White Cliffs Country and one of England’s most famous natural landmarks according to the Natural Trust, the cliffs extend a few miles to the north to St Margaret’s Bay. Captured in the early morning light the glow of these magnificent cliffs is amazing. Unfortunately due to erosion, parts of these cliffs are falling into the sea and the section of beach I usually visit at St Margaret’s Bay differs each time I go with new rocks that were once cliff now at the water’s edge.

  • Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.

  • After I demonstrated a few wave painting techniques, I later thought to join them up into a painting! A Spontaneous watercolour! Watercolour 14” x 10” on Bockingford rough 140lb. So far, nobody has spotted the little men in white shirts, clinging for life, to the torn-off mast (left side of painting).

  • Mullion Cove is situated below the village of Mullion on the West coast of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. The little harbour is owned and maintained by the National Trust, this is the view I managed by climbing along the rocks at the end of the harbour wall and looking out between the rocks to the sea during my recent holiday. Even on a fine day like this, the sea was quite choppy but I loved the aqua marine tones of it in the sunshine, I certainly would never attempt to get to my vantage point when the sea wasn’t so calm, the Atlantic waves crash off these rocks spectacularly at times. PLEASE VIEW LARGER Nikon D300 / 18 -70 zoom @18mm / F11 for 1/40 sec / WB set to Sunny / CP Filter

  • Location / St Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England August 2009: Taken 45 minutes before sunrise and facing away from where the sun rises from. The glow of red above the famous white cliffs are those from the docks at Dover which handles the cross channel ferries to France (one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world)

  • Sheringham Beach Norfolk UK 52° 56′ 45.39″ N, 1° 12′ 9.5″ E Country: England / County: Norfolk / District :North Norfolk / Town: Sheringham

  • Sunrise over Folkestone, was taken back in August 2009 at 5am in the morning. It was stunning! This image is HDR and has been PP in Adobe Photoshop.
