  • On this bridge as a boy scout I saw a ghost, from then it became special, almost ethereal in my eyes. The sight of such an unexplained event inspires and triggers the imagination of a young boy to life. I still look at this bridge and wonder which realm the spirit came from and what secrets are held in every arch and brick of this unique structure. In the soft early morning light, the reflections shimmer on the water like ripples through time, stirring the souls of those who have passed over the bridge, and passed across dimensions. This is not just a bridge over a piece of water it is a bridge which spans time, space and maybe spirituality, to me it is the bridge of faith and belief, a bridge of discovery and imagination, a bridge of light and life, a true contender for the most beautiful bridge in the world. To me it is already a winner, it moved and inspired me it helped to make me what I am today, what I believe and what I feel. Alance Bridge this is my entry as the most Beautiful Bridge in the world.

  • An early morning and highly reflective image of Brothers Water in the English Lake District taken during a recent holiday. As I was making my way up Kirkstone Pass towards Windermere I noticed the mirror-like reflections on the still water of the lake, so without further ado, stopped the car and this was one of many images I took of the lake with the mountainous backdrop reflecting perfectly on the still water.

  • When I think of Cornwall, my mind is never far from the many old unspoilt fishing villages dotted round it’s rugged coastline. As with Polperro on the South coast, it’s narrow streets are of cobbled construction and too narrow for cars, so it’s sleepy atmosphere is the perfect way to get away from the stress of modern city life. Late afternoon light.

  • I went over to my former home town of Totnes in South Devon UK.,this morning having checked that high tide was at 09,56 and all was still with the River Dart like a mirror and beautiful lateral warm light. A similar scene to my earlier Reflections of the Past image that was taken with my trusty old Nikon D100. Still getting accustomed to all the features on my recently purchased Nikon D300 but was more than pleased with the results of the images I took this morning, this one having little editing, just a slight perspective crop and a little sharpening. Nikon D300 / 18 – 70 @ 29mm / AP F16 for 1/13sec / CP Filter

  • Firstly like to thank everyone for looking and commenting, just don’t seem to be getting the time to say thanks , anyway on to the shot now. Shot at Sizergh castle near kendal in Cumbria in the English lake district.. / HDR d A little history on the place now: The core of Sizergh Castle is a 14th century pele tower. The castle was built within the wide band of land which, before the Union of 1603, frequently changed hands between England and Scotland. The tower has walls 9-foot-thick which still reach to 60 feet at the battlements. During Tudor times the castle was extended to the north and west. These wings have fine panelling and decoration. The Great Hall, built in 1450, was altered and decorated between 1558 and 1575. Some further changes were made during the late 18th century and the castle reflects the period of prosperty during Tudor times. The panelling of the Inlaid Chamber was sold to the Victoria and Albert museum in 1891. However, the museum has loaned back two panels together with the inlaid bed which was made to match the room. The castle contains English and French furniture, silver and china and family portraits. There is also a collection of Stuart portraits and Stuart and Jacobite relics. In 1239 the castle passed by marriage into the hands of the Strickland family. Unfortunately no photography was allowed inside, I could have had a beano in there with my camera…

  • A follow up to my earlier image of Brothers water in English The Lake District. This time I zoomed in a bit from my previous wide-angled view to get a bit more detail on the hills and composed with the water line midway to take advantage of the beautiful early morning reflections. • Time to try something different and I’d appreciate your honest feedback on this one please. Two highly reflective images taken in the portrait format, slightly cropped and reduced in size to fit on a black mask, total image size is 4500×3000. I took both of these images within minutes of one another from each side of the old bridge over the River Dart in my former home town Totnes, Devon. The PAST image is of the former warehouses and church converted to luxury riverside apartments, the PRESENT being a new block of colourful riverside houses recently built on the site of a former garage business. Nikon D300 / PAST – / F16 for 1/13sec / 25mm / PRESENT- / F16 for 1/20sec / 18mm / CP Filter

  • views: 433 / favs: 15 Image straight from the camera. Taken on January 11, 2009 with an Olympus FE-340 It was the first day of the year that the weather in London was beautiful so I spent the day outdoor walking through the parks, and the squirrels are very friendly. This particular shot was in Green Park. While I was trying to set-up my camera to take a photo, this little guy suddenly climbed up my leg! (I missed the opportunity to take its picture while it was there) I looked down at it, and it looks to the side as though saying “I didn’t do anything…” (see image in first comment), then it runs behind me and tries to climb up my knapsack; then runs in front me, spirals up the pole and pokes its head to the side going “Peek-a-boo!” After it climbed down I brought my hand out. It grabbed my finger for a little while, but took off before I could get a picture then :-( ... But atleast I captured the funny Peek-a-boo moment! The light and dark areas in the eye may look like the iris and the sclera of the eye, but that is actually caused by reflections; The dark bit at the bottom left corner of the eye is a reflection of myself with the camera:
