Country Field A Unicorns Gift – By My Good Friend Roger Sampson , Check out his work if you can As a new day lay forging and camera in hand / She found herself seeking about once again / In search of green fields, wide reaching trees / Tumbling water, cascading gently to please / Misty aired meadows, clouds kissing blue sky / Colour hues dancing in each scene passed by / She walks sylvan paths hoping for rapture / Looking for splendor her eyes there to capture Along a path she spied, just off to the side / Another small way as if trying to hide / Something was calling, ‘to me, this way take’ / She felt its promise, so soothing it spake / Following its windings past shadows of trees / A whisper heard passing on the Autumn breeze / Stepping from wooded edge her heart was amazed / A sight never witnessed, in awe she just gazed A lovely green field now holding her view / On it soft dusting’s small red leaves wind blew / To its left the forest, curving miles it seemed / Beauty like this, only wondered and dreamed / The sun shown more softer in sky where it’s kept / So magical this place, she sighed and she wept / Then suddenly a movement from behind an oak / A thought she heard, but no voice heard spoke She crouched in silence, her heart quickly danced / For out from the forest a unicorn pranced / Snow white and regal with long flowing mane / He stopped in his trot to view his domain / He studied and looked, then glanced her way / as if to say, enjoy, it’s your place for the day / She reached for her camera but then off he flew / No one else would see now, of that which she knew She walked in the field saddened of what lost / She sat and pondered, her camera she tossed / ‘Was the unicorns gift’, she felt so ashamed / Then a calming indwelled her, minds eye it framed / Looking once more at this magical place / Brought sudden peace, a warmth, a smiling face / ‘It was his kingdom given to capture this day / Not him the subject, of my camera’s play’

It is quite often photographed, maybe most famously on the cover art of the Pink Floyd album Animals Hope you like it, comments welcome and encouraged. The evening comes, the fields are still. / The tinkle of the thirsty rill, / Unheard all day, ascends again; / Deserted is the half-mown plain, / Silent the swaths! the ringing wain, / The mower’s cry, the dog’s alarms, / All housed within the sleeping farms! / The business of the day is done, / The last-left haymaker is gone. / And from the thyme upon the height, / And from the elder-blossom white / And pale dog-roses in the hedge, / And from the mint-plant in the sedge, / In puffs of balm the night-air blows / The perfume which the day forgoes. / And on the pure horizon far, / See, pulsing with the first-born star, / The liquid sky above the hill! / The evening comes, the fields are still. The Aos Sidhe (pronounced “ess shee”), are a powerful, supernatural race comparable to the fairies or elves of other traditions. / They live in an invisible world that coexists with the world of humans. / The Gaelic Otherworld is seen as being closer at the times of dusk and dawn, therefore this is seen as a time special to the Aos Sidhe, as are some of the festivals such as Samhain and Midsummer. The Aos Sidhe are generally described as stunningly beautiful, though they can also be terrible and hideous. I cursed myself for walking too deep into the forest and missing seeing the sunset from the view point high on the hillside like i intended, but the evening rays brought colour to the forest like I wouldnt have imagined. / The forest is very much still in green, but the backlighting from the sunset has given such warmth to the leaves. Cropston Reservoir, illuminated some 8 miles outside the city by the light pollution from Leicester. Whilst the orange Sodium glow is visible to the naked eye at night, only with long exposures does it truly show…... / No chance of star trails whatever!

This is a Very modern, new, contempary part of the Leeds City Centre, but seeing this flaky wall, you wouldnt think so. / It is a little stair-well connecting the back of the train station, ‘Princes Exchange’ with the new River Aire Water front, running parrallel with Whitehall road. / /
