Typical autumn scene early morning in Rivington Lancashire England.
Caught today whilst out walking my dog. From a very wet UK
This painting was inspired a good deal by our beloved Shirley Hirst, and, a book I read last summer of a woman writer for the New Yorker who was living in London at the time of the Blitz. During that time, Londoners were encouraged to send their children to the country-side to avoid German bombing of London. In a few weeks the children would return only to be sent to the country-side once again. American families volunteered to take some of the children in for protection, but the common consensus (this is what I treasure most), Londoner’s didn’t want their children growing up to believe they could escape to avoid danger or problems as adults. I truly love the deep warm colours of Autumn….. This photograph was taken on an early morning wander through the magical land of Savernake Forest in Wiltshire, England. There was an early morning mist that slowly lifted as the sun shone through the canopy of the trees, revealing the most mystical setting. This was one of those moments where I simply had to press the trigger on the camera, mother nature did all the hard work…....
I love this time of year!!!! / taken In Derry NH

Autumn leaves on Robin Hood Way in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, England.
Infra red image of an ancient Oak tree hidden in the valley of the White Leaved Oak, Malvern Hills, England. The tree is thought to be about 1,500 years old and grew from an acorn of a true albino oak which is said to have grown in the area many hundreds of years ago. The Oak is located on the site of ancient earth works and is comonly thought of as being once an ancient place of worship for the Celts and Druids. It is still visited today by local Pagans and Witches and often decorated with offerings of ribbons and crystals.
.... here’s a watercolour I did earlier :) 2003 to be precise.

Even here in the UK we have an idea of what it must be like in New England in the Fall, although I’m sure it is more spectacular than we can imagine. I was inspired by a photograph by Monica Scanlan of the Live and Let Live Group to try to reproduce some of that glorious colour in a painting. I am not a photographer so I even have difficulty reproducing the colours of the painting on a computer screen. Here is Monica’s beautiful photograph which set me off and made me use every red, orange and yellow pastel that I possess!
