  • Ornamental Garden Rivington.

  • No prizes for guessing where in North East England this one was taken… Fujichrome film, naturally.

  • Anne Hathaway’s Cottage / This is a gorgeous twelve-roomed farmhouse, with many beautiful gardens. Part of the building dates from the mid-fifteenth century. / Anne Hathaway (wife of William Shakespeare) spent her childhood in this house. / More from Stratford-Upon-Avon

  • Another of my views of an imagined England that probably never was. In a real cliche, but never the less pleasant dream, roses climb around the door of a stone cottage.

  • Handheld at 1/6s This picture was taken in manchester at night (1st March 2008), on piccadilly Gardens, on an obviously rainy day. BUT I would like to mention that manchester is not getting rained on as much as people think….(Yes I know, I’m not helping the North West’s reputation much with this picture) Part of the Urban Jungle Series “Passage of time in a concrete jungle” won / - No1 in ‘Under My Umbrella’ challenge in the ‘The Woman Photographer Your BEST Work Only* group ‘ “Passage of time in a concrete jungle” was featured / - Twice on the home page / - in the ‘featured art ‘section / - in the group A Beautiful Blur / - in the group All About Your Best Work / - in the group European Everyday Life / - in the group Experimental Photograph… / - in the group Urban Art WINNER in the All Urban challenge (Mood & Ambience group)

  • Firstly like to thank everyone for looking and commenting, just don’t seem to be getting the time to say thanks , anyway on to the shot now. Shot at Sizergh castle near kendal in Cumbria in the English lake district.. / HDR d A little history on the place now: The core of Sizergh Castle is a 14th century pele tower. The castle was built within the wide band of land which, before the Union of 1603, frequently changed hands between England and Scotland. The tower has walls 9-foot-thick which still reach to 60 feet at the battlements. During Tudor times the castle was extended to the north and west. These wings have fine panelling and decoration. The Great Hall, built in 1450, was altered and decorated between 1558 and 1575. Some further changes were made during the late 18th century and the castle reflects the period of prosperty during Tudor times. The panelling of the Inlaid Chamber was sold to the Victoria and Albert museum in 1891. However, the museum has loaned back two panels together with the inlaid bed which was made to match the room. The castle contains English and French furniture, silver and china and family portraits. There is also a collection of Stuart portraits and Stuart and Jacobite relics. In 1239 the castle passed by marriage into the hands of the Strickland family. Unfortunately no photography was allowed inside, I could have had a beano in there with my camera…

  • I am sure I don’t need to tell you who Beatrix Potter was, her love of the Lake District and nature is World famous. Though she is known to have lived at Hilltop Farm near Ambleside for much of her life, she owned many properties and farms in the area and on her death she left them to the National Trust so that the natural beauty of the area could be enjoyed for all time. There was over 4000 acres in her estate. This was one of her houses on Belle Isle on Windermere, in the large grounds she planted every species of tree that was native to the United Kingdom, it looks so beautiful from my viewpoint on a lake leisure steamer. • A little red bridge at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, Dorset.

  • It’s still dull in Devon so just thought I’d pull another image from my archives to remind me of how good my local town looks in Summer. The well groomed Esplanade Gardens with the old Victorian cast iron ornamental fountain are a joy to see as you walk along the esplanade with the harbour and marina on the other side. • i am very happy i stumbled upon this today. (11 feb 2009) Here is some panels of the fence that i took close up photographs of. As you can see each panel of fence has a completly different pattern, colour and texture. I have a fair few photographs taken and I have been able to produce some fantastic pieces of art. I think it is a fantastic find!!! / This abstract image is a little part of someones garden fence! Every strip of fence had been weather treated, but all the strips were completly different. i took lots of pictures as there were so many fantastic different shots. The wood fence looks as if it had been coated with weather stain, then it looks like a coat of tar had been applied, then it looks like the treated areas of the fence were blistered by the sun, leaving behind a some wonderful abstract art! i think that this picture looks like the sea – a field – hills – horizon with trees on it. / im uploading this picture, and i may upload another. i have cropped this picture slightly. i have adjusted the brightness/ contrast/ hue and saturation a little bit also, just to bring out the brilliance of what i photographed.

  • I took this shot in the Stoke Poges memorial gardens which is in Buckinghamshire. The grounds are beautifully set out as a final resting place for your ashes. I love the way the single flower here looks like a guiding light or a bright beacon to attract the creatures from the pond to it and also the way the blue sky is reflecting on the surface of the water. • Ancient Bridge Cottage in the delightful old world village of Buckland-in-the-Moor in Devon’s Dartmoor National Park after a recent complete no expense spared refurbishment, including a new thatched roof sits in a beautiful natural woodland garden. I am sure many the romantics amongst us have dreams of living in a character filled chocolate box cottage like this, I know I certainly would.
