acrylic on paper 14”x17” / Dancing in lighted pools of Jello-textured neon. “That’s the way to do it,” an old stranger called to the young man who, being suddenly aware of what he was doing, stopped, looked over his shoulder and glanced down at the ragged multi-colored sheet that was pulled tightly around his shoulders. He leaned back and peered up at the sun. Smoke rose from the side of a brick building and the odor or ginger floated through the air. The source of both puzzled him, as he remembered distinctly thinking he was the only person in the world just a few moments before. The old man smiled a toothless smear of flabby lips and bowed down to the dancing youth, who smiled back, jiggled aimlessly for a few seconds on thin, scratched legs and then sat down on a patch of grass in from of a building that had been painted by clowns. The young man pulled back the corner of his gown of rainbow hues and let out his heart, which had been beating all along, but in being freed, started to do a dance all of its own, though it had no legs. It also sang, which surprised the young man as he had always thought he was mute.

Coloured pencils & Gold Art Pen on paper. This Mandala was created over many months; a process of adding form and colour grew from a desire to “put some pieces back together” in my life. .. It became a piece I could return to when the feeling arose, a gradual shift of focus onto the glorious, bright and colourful parts of my life. I call it a clown chakra as that is how I imagine mine might look! Traditionally, chakras relate to the energy centres within a person, whereby the life force flows through. This is really a playful and cheeky approach to depicting an “energy centre” I have visualised. Antelope-Corkscrew Canyon, shows a powerful ray of light coming through the cavern top and illuminating the cave walls in brilliant orange-reddish colors. Antelope Canyon is so unique, it has also become known as The Corkscrew, Corkscrew Canyon, Upper Antelope, Wind Cave, or The Crack. Upper Corkscrew Canyon is located around the Navajo Reservations and usually requires a jeep to get you there. This location is just outside Page, Arizona. Photograph information: / I used a Canon Elan with a 20mm lens and negative film. / This image was taken inside the cave with a 45 second time exposure to account for reciprocity failure.

Yes, I did actually manage to read all 4 massive books in the ‘Twilight’ series while my computer was ‘sick’. So – for a bit of ‘light relief’ – my take on the traditional ‘vampire’. I know this one doesn’t actually ‘match’ any of the wonderful vampire characters in ‘Twilight’ (by Stephanie Meyer) – the only vampire there with flaming red hair definitely comes across as a ‘bad guy’ – not one willing or able to join the good, ‘vegetarian vampire coven’ that the story is based around. / But – I just couldn’t see myself creating an image of something with fangs and a lot of fake blood – so bright red hair has to substitute. A ‘vampire’ maybe not willing or able to clearly show him or herself as she is to the outside non-supernatural world? A composite image created from many of my own photographs.
