I’m always a pattern lover since I was a kid, so here comes a work that uses very basic elements within to show the beauty of light, colors and patterns. ian
/ 88 sounds like good fortune in Mandarin, so I pick this number for one of my most energetic baby. ;) ian
Rules are made to be broken, so I disturbed the pattern to make an imperfect symmetry.
probably my most highly-regarded piece ever, no kidding. : ]
one of my personal favorite, maybe it’s because No.4 was the first piece on which I deliberately put the feel of “texture.” It carries a strong sense of movement that magnifies through the shade, color and geometric effect. Unlike other designs, I applied a horizontal view for this postcard design, and added a white space on the right, just for balance’s sake (the original aspect ratio of No.4 is 1.0). Anyway, enjoy. : ]
After the James Blunt concert at Sydney Entertainment Quarter at mid-night, my friends decided to go and see the balloons in Canberra in the early morning. I drove to canberra in 4 hours and wow, so peaceful and energetic and the same time. Commonwealth Place, Canberra, Australia / 2006-04-15 4:52 AM – Yes the time is the key! November 27, 2007. I did this abstract digital painting a few months ago but today I revised and enlarged it. Its dashing colors and lines have their own inner harmony. For this and for many digitals I start by making a virtual painting in ArtRage.
yup i know I haven’t uploaded anything “serious” for a while, so here comes a new work in progress. have to do some minor change before the final version, but so far I’m quite satisfied with what I got (or should I be worried about its being too “orange”?!). comments are much appreciated. ;) Update: / / Finally i set up a shop to sell my own prints! in my shop you can get signed, limited edition of prints, by limited I mean, well, really limited! :)
Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Beach Series’ card by Karin Taylor Hula Hips is a mixed media production on paper impressed with a canvas texture. I use a combination of ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint. I like to use pastel over the top of acrylic, allowing the acrylic to show through a bit. Hula Hips is a really out there kinda girl, loves life and lives it to the full! A nice happy birthday card this would make :D
digital image of resin sculpture (life size)... / contents ” fishing net “ / to represent the imprint of human interference with our natural world. “Legwork” was featured in the group ART ACTION UNION – CREATIVE ACTIVISM…
Resin Sculpture..mixed media / fish hooks… Featured in “Contemporary Professional Painters and Sculptors ” group / Featured in “Unconventional Artistry ” group “Come live with me, and be my love, and we will some new pleasures prove, Of golden sands, and crystal brooks, With silken lines and silver hooks” / John Donne(1572-1631)
I thought this would be a nice card to illustrate the old cliche, “A woman’s work is never done,” and to honor women everywhere who work hard at home, on the job, within the family circle, in the community, in the church, in public service. This energetic little Eastern bluebird female exemplifies an honorable work ethic in her diligence at nest-building. (Note the bedraggled look of poor little Mama’s feathers; temperatures were in the 90s and she was really feeling the heat and humidity! Just about the same concept as a housewife sweating over the stove or the ironing board!)
A mark of strong emotion. What it is is up to you.

This colorful large piece by Las Vegas Artist Jerold Frederick Sowles AKA Rhinovangogh was first shown at the Georgtown Gallery in Washington DC where the artist lived and painted for four years. The piece depicts the artist in younger days and reflects a vitality, motion and exhuberance borne of youthful energy. The colorful spheres are a design element the artist has added successfully to many of his pieces. / Original work is 35 3/4 ” X 75” / Medium: acrylic paint on canvas.
For a recent exhibition we were given the theme “Arrivals and Departures” In Response I used the words of poet Reverend Father Ernesto Cardenal Martínez (born January 20, 1925) as my starting point. “A universe harmonious as a harp. / Rhythm is repeated equal times. / Heartbeat. / Day/night. / Migrant birds’ arrivals and departures. / Star cycles and maize cycles. / Mimosa opening during the day / and folding when night comes. / Moon and tide rhythms. / And crabs who know the tide is on the ebb / and before it goes out have their hiding holes. / A single rhythm in planets, the sea, atoms, apples / which ripen and fall, and Newton’s head. / Melody, arpeggio, chord. / The harp of the universe. “ I responded with a sculpture of assemblage.
