The infamous Pink Pig Porsche that was designed for Can-Am and tested for aerodynamics at the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans. It didn’t finish due to a crash, but it has left its mark on racing history for its incredibly unique paint scheme showing various pork cuts in German. It was affectionately called “Der Trüffel-Jäger von Zuffenhausen” or “The Truffle-Hunter from Zuffenhausen.”

Is anybody out there…... FEATURED in the GROUP:The Woman Photographer PERTH to SYDNEY by bicycle in 58 days! I have just had a chance meeting with an amazing person! Whilst travelling along the Melbourne/Sydney highway I passed a lone cyclist and as luck would have it we both made the same detour off the main road before Yass and hence the chance meeting! Yasuke san is from Osaka. He bought a bike in Perth and was into the 55th day of his road trip from Perth to Sydney via Canberra when we met . Also his first trip to Australia! It took him 10 days to cycle across the Nullabor Plain covering 130 kms a day. Nullabor meaning nothing/no-one/tree/a limestone formation and 1,200 ms from east to west./Perth to South Australia. Refer to wikipedia for more information about the Nullabor Plain. A few days ago he sent me a text to say..” I reached my goal sydney city at last”............ He did not say “is anyone out there” whilst riding but these were my thoughts as I was driving the highway. But he did say”my legs are aching” Upon completing his journey from PERTH to SYDNEY by bicycle Yasuke san had covered 4,000 kilometres ! Taking 58 days to complete this journey on his OWN. Have just heard that he will not have to sell the cycle in Sydney but by paying $40 it will accompany him on the Indian-Pacific over the next few days. / Yasuke san has walked the temples of Shikoku Island. In the image above he is wearing the special stole worn whilst walking from temple to temple on Shikoku Island. It kept him safe in Japan and it will keep him safe in Australia during his travels. He has shown endurance and courage and his family must be very proud! On the island of Shikoku the pilgrim will visit the 88 temples. It is believed all 88 temples were visited by the famous Buddhist monk Kūkai, founder of the Shingon school, who was born in Zentsūji, Shikoku in 774. / In addition to the 88 temples of the pilgrimage, there are over 200 temples not considered part of the 88. The walking course is approximately 1,200km long and can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to complete. check wikipedia for more information about Shikoku Island…...anyone with courage and determination is able to complete this walk! Good physical fitness and stamina is required to endure the stress of constant walking up and down the hills of Shikoku, in the burning sun and the pouring rain. Today is the 1st July/’09 and I received a text this morning to say Yasuke san and bicycle arrived back in Perth yesterday. The trip by train from Sydney to Perth taking 4 days.

Most of us can remember a farm we used to love to visit or a farm we once called home. Whatever the case, this nostalgic scene brings back memories of simpler times and family ties. I talked to the elderly couple who built this barn. It’s over 50 years old, they told me; they built it themselves. Their house burned down and was rebuilt, but the old barn survived and still stands, a page in a memory book that will never be erased.

i had what was probably my most distressing day in marrakech…..saddened and sometimes even a little angered by what i had seen going on around me. the treatment of the animals, the treatment of eachother…..i decided to head back home…..i wanted nothing more than to get out of there on the next train…...i saw this guy up ahead of me and thought for a moment about what being surrounded by this everyday does to your head…...you couldn’t live here and maintain the level of empathy that we can allow ourselves to feel at home….. with safety nets, animal rights and the rest of it….these things don’t exist here…...not because these people are mean spirited….but simply because they are too busy trying to survive…..i thought…..how long would it take to errode my compassion…...? / / .....a part of my someone series
St. Paul’s Chapel, NYC You only need to take a glance at this place to know it’s special… George Washington once worshipped here… this place also saw the worst of 9/11, and brought out the best in those who came here to help others recover from it.
The ‘medicine’ of ELK ( or wapiti in Shawnee) is stamina, endurance, strength and nobility. Few elk are ever loners or solitary, they congregate in large herds and reflect the need for companionship, support and community. Majestic forest king with antlers high, / Mighty strength belongs to you. / Fill my mind with common sense / to do the things that I must do. / Lead me in paths of quiet calm / where I connect with other minds, / whose souls, like mine, yearn for the truth / and worship higher powers divine. / Where paths to spirit are unique / to every woman and each man, / and all respect each person’s way / of following an unvoiced plan. These ancient live oaks have stood their ground for a long time, surviving hurricanes, intense heat, bitter cold, and every test that time can dish out. When I look at them, I’m filled with a sense of respect for them and encouraged to stand firm through my own trials.
Psalm 30:5 is such a comforting verse, a reminder that grief has its season and then changes to gentler times. I would like to dedicate this to Bianca Thomas who lost her beloved husband. May you be comforted by the angels and strengthened as you grieve.
