The mog featured in this photo is a Sand Cat.
This is my first encounter with a doe at the first sign of spring, after a long winter and she is ready to be air “born”. :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park
River and I saw this old general store on the old highway 512 just east of Killaloe, Ontario in a sunny spring day!
This is a little park along the old highway 60 in Combermere (Ontario, Canada) bathed at the last brilliant sunlight of the day!
There was this long stretched wooden fence along a dirt road, looking as though it was protecting the vast forests from “human intruders” – people were “locked in” with their highways and their houses while the forests were “out there” enjoying their life with animals. :) :) :)
I saw these wonderful log houses along a dirt road in Golden Lake (Ontario, Canada).
This is one of my favorite farms houses.
Wilno is Canada’s first Polish settlement. They call the region “God’s Country” because of its rolling hills, vast forests and wonderful streams, rivers and lakes. You feel as though you were closer or “with” God when you are there. :) This is a sunrise in “God’s Country”.
In the middle of nowhere deep in the woods, there was this huge barn/farm house – I thought River and I could live there in order to be among our friends the wolves. :)
I thought this was really pretty just under the first ray of morning light. :)
I couldn’t quite figure out who the fence was protecting – the bird house? :)
My forecaster said that there will be more snow on Wednesday so I’m preparing myself for it “emotionally” right now. :)
These are the barns I wouldn’t mind living in…. :)
River and I came upon these working barns right after the sun was up. The cows were still asleep. River tiptoed around, didn’t want to wake them up. :)
River and I ran into this little shed in the spring along the old highway 512 in Renfrew county (Ontario, Canada) and we both thought that we could stay there over night. :)
When I needed to think about a difficult session with a patient of mine, I would sit on this swing that Clark originally made for his granddaughter and meditate. After a while a kind of clarity would occur and I’d “see” something I had not seen before. I have named this my “thinking swing”. :)
The little calf was very proud of her long eye lashes so she posed to get their picture taken. :)
The little calf knew how cute she was so she stayed still to pose for her photo.
River was a bit scared of cows as she is more used to deer, foxes, coyotes and other wild animals so she did her “hunter pose” and the mother-cow thought that was a gesture befitting her, so she did a “River imitation”. :)
The cow was ever so patient with my scared dog River, who first had her “hunter stance” (which the cow imitated), then put herself down on her back to show submission to the HUGE being compared to herself and eventually she settled in staying “down” while the cow faced her and waited, waited, and then waited some more, finally River got up and followed her in some “grass eating”, becoming a “cow-dog”, just like last summer, when she became a deer fawn, except the event of her identifying with fawns was a lot less “dramatic” and fearful for her. :)
This is my freshly picked rhubarb pile before they are made into rhubarb and blackberry jam. :)
I just realized how humongous the cows must look like to River! :) The little baby was about 4 times her size and the big ones, well, as you can see…. :)

To distinguish them from bush crickets or katydids, they are sometimes referred to as short-horned grasshoppers. Species that change colour and behaviour at high population densities are called locusts. In popular culture / Aesop (620–560 BC), a slave and story-teller who lived in Ancient Greece told a tale called The Ant and the Grasshopper. In this tale, the ant worked hard preparing his shelter and stores of food all summer, while the grasshopper played. Once the winter came, the ant was prepared and the grasshopper, having no shelter or food begs to enter the ant’s house. The ant refuses and the grasshopper starves to death. The 1957 film Beginning of the End featured mutated giant grasshoppers attacking Chicago. “Grasshopper” is a term currently used in jest referencing a person who has much to learn. Its use originating from the television show Kung Fu (1972-1975) in which the student, Young Caine, portrayed by Radames Pera is taking instruction from his Master Po portrayed by Keye Luke who nicknamed his student “Grasshopper” as a term of endearment. In the 1998 movie A Bug’s Life, in an apparent homage to the Aesop fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, where the heroes are the members of an ant colony, and the lead villain and his henchmen are grasshoppers, the lead villain is then eaten by a bird. The Japanese superhero franchise “Kamen Rider” originally had a grasshopper motif, with a grasshopper based helmet and costume. This was later toned down in favour of other motifs in more recent Kamen Rider series, though some features of the original hero remain (‘bug eyes’).
