Model – Mishkamink I turned Mishka into Emily the Strange. Took a bit of work and some mad photoshop skillz, but I think the result speaks for itself. No, it’s not Gogo Yubari. Emily the Strange character copyright Rob Reger and Cosmic Debris Etc. Inc. / Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas

Title from a poem by Emily Dickinson I hide myself within my flower, / That wearing on your breast, / You, unsuspecting, wear me too— / And angels know the rest. / / I hide myself within my flower, / That, fading from your vase, / You, unsuspecting, feel for me / Almost a loneliness.

I have a Bird in spring / Which for myself doth sing – / The spring decoys. / And as the summer nears – / And as the Rose appears, / Robin is gone. Yet do I not repine / Knowing that Bird of mine / Though flown – / Learneth beyond the sea / Melody new for me / And will return. Fast is a safer hand / Held in a truer Land / Are mine – / And though they now depart, / Tell I my doubting heart / They’re thine. In a serener Bright, / In a more golden light / I see / Each little doubt and fear, / Each little discord here / Removed. Then will I not repine, / Knowing that Bird of mine / Though flown / Shall in a distant tree / Bright melody for me / Return. / ~ Emily Dickinson I also have an online greeting card store. / Kimberly’s Card Store I aso have a wide variety of products at Zazzle Images copyright ©Kimberly Palmer. / Copying, displaying, manipulating or redistribution of any image from this portfolio without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited / / Past and Present Group Features / The Nest

Mixed-media. 5 1/2” x 10” / This bejeweled chair was inspired by a quote by Karl Kraus: / “One’s need for loneliness is not satisfied if one sits at a table alone. There must be empty chairs as well.” / ....I am no stranger to loneliness, so this quote has a lot of meaning for me. There are a lot of empty chairs at my table. But I am an avid reader and when I read, the most interesting people are here with me! / ....The quote also had me thinking about the old question “If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?” My first chair is dedicated to my first choice at the table… Emily Dickinson. Emily has written extensively about loneliness, isolation and alienation— looking at the world from a distance, peering through windows at what others seem to take for granted, a normal life. This piece is dedicated to her poem “Heart, we will forget him!” Heart, we will forget him! / You an I, tonight! / You may forget the warmth he gave, / I will forget the light. When you have done, pray tell me / That I my thoughts may dim; / Haste! lest while you’re lagging. / I may remember him! So, here’s to “Empty Chairs” that, when occupied while I read, fill the void. / /
