Embsay, this rock formation to the north of the village is called Embsay Crag, at the foot of which is Embsay Reservoir. The crag marks the start of Barden Moor, a large expanse of open moorland. /

The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (E&BASR) is a heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England. / The rolling stock on the line consists of 20 ex-industrial locomotives, the oldest of which was built in 1908; three diesel-multiple units; and ten other diesel locomotives. / Embsay Station was built in 1888. Bolton Abbey village is named after a nearby ruined 12th century priory, belonging to the Dukes of Devonshire. Featured in the Old Things group OCT 2009.

This is on the bridleway leading up to Embsay Crag, near Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales, the view is roughly to the East looking towards Eastby Crag and in the distance the lower end of Wharfedale. Nikon D40 18-55mm

Another view of Embsay Crag, near Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales. / This was taken just a bit further down the path from my last shot, but the wall here was better positioned to make a good foreground. The footbridge in my last shot is close to the group of trees in the middle distance, and Embsay reservoir itself is on the right of shot. Featured in the Trains group DEC 2008. The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (E&BASR) is a heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the former Midland Railway branch from Skipton to Ilkley: the E&BASR currently runs from Embsay via Halton East and Draughton to Bolton Abbey station, a distance of 4 miles (6 km). There are plans to re-extend the line back to Addingham (where a replica LMS Midland style train station is being planned for construction / as the old original station site has been redeveloped as housing) and also to Skipton where passengers can interchange with trains on the Airedale Line in the future.
