Yes I know what you’re all thinking…It’s ANOTHER PET DOG!!!!! Don’t panic you arty farty types…it’s only up for a limited time whilst I make some cards for a friends present. Then it will be strictly back to black polo necks and matching berets. Ciao baby. Postscript (Wow I literally just uplaoded this to make cards for a friends birthday. I had no idea people would comment on it! I feel compelled to point out – as those who know me understand – my humour is very dry and ironic. Don’t take anything I say seriously! Except for my Africa pics and this word – thanks…) :) I MIGHT ADD IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY IT-GO ON, ON YA, YEAH NOW AND THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! COLLECT THE SET!!

Right now the woodland and prairie is a tangle of vines, leaves, and brambles. There’s a profusion of berry, blossom, pods and leaves. Insects are busy everywhere; butterflies, beetles, grasshoppers, bees and flies all so plentiful that they could be jewels spangling the queen anne’s lace and ragweed. Birds are flocking and gathering in the smaller trees, all excitement and a – twitter about the journey south. The Canadian geese are honking and grazing in flockas so large they should be termed ‘herds.’ The hawks are moulting, and I’ve found two prime wing feathers for my collection, nicley barred and with plumes at the base of the shaft. On these walks I cant help but feel the soul of the land pulsing and shimmering. Fruits hang heavy on the vines, the air is dense with chamomile, wild mint, sweetgrass. This is the time of ripening and fullfillment ,and I’m right there in the middle of it. My favorite manifestation of the feminine face of divinity is the Celtic earth mother, and favorite male aspect, the Stag King. I paint them often and have even imagined a romance for them as the spirits of this divine couple pass through the various seasons of the year, leaving one painting and entering another in order to be together once again. They are the soul of the land personified, and when I walk in the lonely places, where birdsong and wind have replaced traffic and human voices, their presence is everywhere. This drawing is intended to be a painting, but has some tricky areas. Like the perspective of tilted head and caressing lips, or the goddess’s hand with its finger bones sending out roots and tendrils into the shoulder of the stag king, so I was working out these details on a sketch prior to painting. I was pulled into it and instead, drew them image on good paper and continued. In a day or so Ill add my notes, which need editing. Meanwhile, in this image you see the lord and lady in their prime, mature and wise. The passion of youth has ripened and improved with the passing season. This piece was inspired by my love and passion for nature. This image is comprised of 3 different photos I shot. The background is the Mountains in North Georgia. The hands are mine….. hubby helped with that photo :-)..... and a red-tailed hawk that I’ve used in other images in my portfolio. I’ve merged all 3 images and applied the Orton Effect in PS. / To Love Nature is to “Embrace” Her…..... Not destroy her!!

The gentle flow and twist of the rainbow colors… / The writhing and turning of the forms… / The mysterious depths… / The central objects overlapping and tangling around each other – coming together in the center… / The glossy almost sweaty, silky surface texture… / Smooth and flowing… / Yet strained and contorted… / The center hot spots – coming together… All of these factors made me think of the title “Embrace”, and it seems to fit the image very well. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
