  • Les' Lake, Twizel
    by Mel Brackstone

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I never did get around to posting all my autumn shots….so here’s another one…there’s a huge group of photogs all massed across the other side, trying to jostle for position on shifting reed beds and yuckky mud, and further across there’s a couple more. I gave up waiting over that side, and moved to the western edge to see what I could see…..now you can see what I could see :) This was processed in NZ with photomatix, back when I was probably a little overwhelmed by the colour….I might reprocess it and see if I like it better with my newer techniques New Zealand / Seascapes / Frogs / Lensbaby / Infrared / Industrial / Spam / Panorama / Landscapes / Real Estate Series / People

  • Okay, so it’s winter. But this is what the Avenue looks like as of today (Tuesday 26 June) due no doubt to a very mixed bag of seasons this year. Bacchus Marshians are proud of their Avenue, about 5km of elm trees leading into the town. Spectacular all year round – in summer, lush and green; in spring, showering blossoms in almost fairy tale manner; in winter – bare and foreboding and in autumn a flame of colour. When it’s windy, take an alternative route – when they come down, those 90 year old elms do a fair bit of damage!

  • I have spent countless hours playing as a child in this forest and as an adult I spend countless hours trying to destress in the same forests. This artwork has been featured in the group “Stillness speaks” 4 cards of this artwork sold so far.

It has been called, ‘The best example of Neo-Classical architecture in Europe’. / / The idea for the hall came from Liverpool citizens who were concerned about the lack of a place for the triennial music festivals. To fund it a subscription list was set up with shares available at £25 each and by January 1837 £23,350 had been raised. / / Its architect was Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, who was only 25 at the time he won the competition to design the building. / / Do check out mariarty’s growing portfolio / / / /

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Taken on a walk through Elm Grove Wood, in Dawlish, Devon. UK. Thank you for looking.

  • This elm, chestnut and oak grove are very special to me as I use to play under these trees for hours as a child with my two sisters and neighbourhood friends. We would build cubbies from the branches that had fallen on the ground. We would build these cubbies and build communities under the trees. Now my mother and sister bring my neice and nephew who are 2 and 6 years old into the forest and build cubbies with them in amongst the trees. The photo was taken right on dusk as the sun was setting. I was madly racing around trying to light all the candles before it became to dark to see what i was doing. Two years ago my grandfather died and we buried his ashes amongst the trees so that they could go back to nature as all life comes from the Earth. He loved the trees just as much as I did and so do the childern of today. On a regular basis some child is building or playing in amongst the trees. My sister and brother in law used this photo on the front of their wedding invitation. This work has been featured in The Dandenongs Group.

  • Spring Avenue

The Avenue of Honour, Bacchus Marsh, showing elms in bloom. Soon they will begin to fall like tissue paper confetti.

  • Hawk on the Lookout
    by Bonnie Taylor Barry

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I kept trying to figure out why Mother Bluebird was in a tizzy. She kept calling out in a frenzied way. And then I spotted the cause of her alarm, a big hawk sitting on a low limb of the elm tree in my back yard. That spells trouble for little bluebird fledglings trying to find their way in the big world, and Mama was saying, “Be careful; the hawk’s on the lookout for lunch!” Apparently, her cries were beneficial because the hawk lost interest and flew away.

  • These are three trees, including one that looks like a Christmas tree – it’s a scene that needs snow to make it look stark and clear so that the shapes of the trunks and the spindly branches can be appreciated, especially so when it is in black and white.

  • Dark Elm
    by Arnold Isbister

    US$17.10–US$91.20

Photo of a stroll along the river with the fog setting in and the bridge slowly disappearing behind.

  • Dark Elm #3
    by Arnold Isbister

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Part of a series I did along the river bank with this tree as a focal point. It was very early in the morning with a mist still in the air. Buildings are barley visible across the river and it was so serene, silent. I did this one vertically for a possible combo of the 3 Dark Elm photos.

  • Pretty Boy
    by Bonnie Taylor Barry

    US$4.99–US$114.00

This male Northern Cardinal is nothing short of a pretty boy perched so strikingly in the elm tree with the February sky as his backdrop.

  • This little elm tree has survived many a hurricane while trees twice its size have toppled. It’s the only tree in my yard which is draped in Spanish moss. When I was returning from a walk around my neighbor’s pond, I was struck by the beauty of the light streaming through the moss and took this photo to immortalize the moment. The property in the background is another neighbor’s woodland.
