  • Lady Elliot Magic
    by gardenofbeeden

    US$6.65–US$152.00

I was lucky enough to spend nearly an hour swimming alongside this juvenille green turtle (Chelonia mydas) on the fringing reef at Lady Elliott Island in the Southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Lady Elliott is a beautiful island that is home to a wide variety of marine life and seabirds. Best of all the resort is reasonably priced fairly basic accommodation unlike most of the rest of the island resorts in the GBR. If you get the chance then Lady Elliott is well worth the trip. During my week long visit I would have seen more than >10 green turtles, hatchlings on the beach, sharks, rays, gourpers and a myriad of other reef fish. The coral reef on the other side of the island is spactacular with huge plate (Acropora sp.) corals everywhere. It is truly magic.

I just want to say thank you to Rob for being such a good sport, by participating in the Happy Haven Group’s first interview. I really enjoyed reading the answers that Rob gave. I feel as if I know him better now. I’ve always known that he was an outstanding photographer/artist….. But now we all can see some of the passion, creativity and inspiration behind his talents!! The piece of Rob’s work that will represent the groups avatar for the next 2 weeks will be his photo titled “Eastern Spinebill”. I have this piece in my own collection and I think it’s a stunning and brilliant photo….. I will later on today send a group bubblemail with the direct link to this interview. The next interview will be posted 2 weeks from today. / Thanks Again Rob!! :-) Interview Questions / Photographer/Artist: Robert Elliott / Interviewed by: Deb aka TrEaSuReDiMaGeS (moderator of the Happy Haven Group) How long have you been an artist on the redbubble? / I have been a member of Redbubble since August 2007 / What country are you from? / Australia / Tell us a little bit about yourself? / The hard bit. I’m 63 years young, been happily married for 36 years, have two children and 3 grandchildren. / I retired from the rat race a number of years ago to enjoy the simple things in life. My life now revolves round: / a) my family, / b) the environment, I spend time in bush regeneration activities in a local reserve and in the Royal National Park. Also do ad hoc bird surveys for Birds Australia, / c) traveling to the more remote, and seldom seen, areas of my country in a trusty 4wd How long have you been a photographer/artist? / Photography, mostly birds never people as they are to hard and tend to complain, has only been a key part of my life for about 3 or 4 years What type of artwork do you enjoy creating and why? / Photos of birds in their natural environment. I find this extremely challenging, particularly for bush birds, and hugely fulfilling when you get lucky. What is your favorite work of art in your portfolio and why? / One of my early photos and one of the least viewed, I recently renamed it Freedom ~ Cockatiel. The Cockatiel is a bird of the semi arid inland of Australia; it is also one of the most popular caged birds in the world. Even most Australians have only ever seen it in a cage or avery. To me this photo is the personification of freedom. / http://www.redbubble.com/people/rob44/art/153599-11-freedom-cockatiel What has been your greatest accomplishment as an artist up to the / present date? / This is simple, it’s having Meal Time ~ King Penguin and Chick accepted into the Natural Development group. Do you have an artist that you admire? If so who and why? / I find most people on Redbubble to be inspirational. If I may, I’ll mention 7; / Lance Leopold, amazing photographer, particularly of birds and anything smaller than a pin head. / Mel Brackstone, incredible seascapes. / Andrew Bosman, wonderful photographer and for his superb images of the Blue Mountains area west of Sydney. An area I love. / Eyal Nahmias & Steve Bulford, fantastic wildlife photography / Carmen Mandel-Cesáreo & Mundy Hackett for their photography and tireless efforts in respect to the environment and the natural world. What are your dreams, goals and aspirations as an artist? / I guess the impossible, but simply I would like to think that by sharing the large variety of my wild bird photos, (although I’m currently stuck on penguins) I will inspire others to leave the comforts of home and see the beauty and diversity of the natural world before it’s to late. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you while / creating some of your artwork? / On one occasion I saw an unknown bird of prey perched on the mast of a distant boat. After spending considerable time getting in the perfect position for the perfect shot I focused with a 600mm lens to find it was a beautifully crafted decoy used to keep real birds from doing what birds do on boats. Do you have an inspirational message you would like to share with other / artists? / Do what you’re passionate about for yourself not for praise from others, but never be afraid to share your passion with others.

  • I love this kid. One of a set of twins from of our friends Nikki and Ben. Kids are my favourite kind of people. They are so alert, so interested in everything going on around them, they are just amazing. And Elliot, while I’m sure his parents will disagree, is always ready with a big smile.

  • So called, as this was taken at Norwich City Football Club, who’s nickname is ‘The Canaries’. / This is Elliot, my 6 year old grandson, who was playing in a mini football tournament there, proudly displaying his medal. / Another collaberation between Glen , who took the photo, Richard, who did the B&W, and myself, the SC and the rest of the editing. / Thank you for looking. /

  • Elliot Lake Sunset
    by Jeff Harris

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Elliot Lake sunset in late fall 2007. The color is, as it was. A very special sunset. Canon D30 / Canon 28-135 / 1/90s at f/4.5 / no filters

  • Picture I did a while back, however I lost the image so I had to grab it from the friend I did it for. Relevant. It pretty much was a experiment in the way I do my drawings on the computer, effectively I still use it now. Thank You Elliot

  • Pitcher Plant
    by blossom

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Pitcher Plant The pitcher is usually a long, narrow receptacle filled with fluid which digests any insect (or even slightly larger animals which might fall in). Many of these plants include a ‘lid’ to the pitcher. The entire structure grows from a thick tendril which extends out of the tip of the leaves. The inside of its lid is usually a reddish colour. The more sunlight the plant receives, the more of a red tinge there is to the pitchers. I found this little beauty lapping up the sun at Elliot Falls, Cape York Peninsula, Far North Queensland. 100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of “Pitcher Plant” will be donated to “thegreataustraliancancerbushwalk” for the Cancer Council.
