  • After months of searching, a few days ago I found my electro plasma light. This novelty of the 90s was locked away at the furthest most upper part of my wardrobe. It’s something I have thought about photographing for a long time, but I had no game plan and no real ideas about how to do it. Fast forward to 180+ shots later, I came up with these. In total darkness I was able to achieve this glow on the globe, and the brighter electro-movement. The eerie glowing form in the background is my hand pressed against the (incredibly hot and tingling) glass globe. I really enjoyed this shoot, despite a lightly irritated palm, I found myself pretty happy with the results. As is from camera, no post processing at all. • Lightning strikes between Crystal Brook and Port Pirie, South Australia

  • Lightning was striking middle and to the right of this frame and not much was landing over the Hi-Rises of Surfers Paradise. I made sure I had Q1 just inside the frame and it managed to get hit, I caught half of the bolt but missed the half that went left. / This spot has potential, just need the storms to not drift so far south. / Taken @ The Southport Pier

  • It did look promising for a while though the storm split and drifted inland and out to sea. Still managed to land this bolt at a guess, hitting Cheveron Island just west of Surfers Paradise. / Over looking the Southport Broadwater towards Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. 05/12/09
