Electrical light

  • This shot was taken at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, CO. The most amazing electrical storm came through. It was quite a ways in the distance. The cloud coverage was interesting which sat low over our heads. Lightning flashed about every three seconds. It was truly spectacular. It never rained where I was standing. Noise Reduction software applied due to the high ISO setting. I put the camera on a tripod and kept clicking. The pool house was in the foreground and Cheyenne Mountain in the background.

  • Two detailed lightning strikes, one making a circle in the sky, with nice cloud definition and a desert landscape.

  • Miniature Christmas lights in macro. / Canon 20D. /

  • Time in Hong Kong went really fast. Time for photos was limited. This is one hectic modern city, filled with an amazing number of people, living, surviving and dreaming together, closer than one can imagine. Hence when you look at the shot all the little lights represent someones dream, their aspirations, their life…. • A little play with light, power and a timer. Not my usual style of photography, but I am having fun with it! I only adjusted the gamma on this. the rest is natural, the way I shoot.

  • Well this is the shot that made it into the 2008 channel ten weather calendar, so I’m pretty proud of that.Getting this into the calendar was my first… ‘public’ recognition of my work so this is a pretty special shot to me. it is lightning over Adelaide looking down from Mount Osmond. It was taken in December 2006 and featured on the following nights news broadcast.

  • Como Marina and Bridge just after sunset – Como, Sydney, Australia. The interesting thing about this photo is that I was experimenting with delaying the time between each of the bracketed shots to capture the a train going each way on the bridge and I think this may have added to the vivid electric blue colour. The first shot was taken about 15 mins after sunset and the other two bracketed shots were taken 5 and 10 mins later respectively. You can see this a little in the fact that the boat on the right is a bit fuzzy. Very little post processing was done on this shot other than the obvious HDR process in Photomatix. Other that that it was just a minor crop to get rid of something I couldn’t see in the low light in the forground in iphoto and thats it. Nikon D90, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, f10, HDR’ed in Photomatix with 3 exposures, mtr, -2 & +2, at 20, 6 & 30 seconds, iphoto, Slik 614CF tripod, Nikon ML-L3 remote.
