Well this is the shot that made it into the 2008 channel ten weather calendar, so I’m pretty proud of that.Getting this into the calendar was my first… ‘public’ recognition of my work so this is a pretty special shot to me. it is lightning over Adelaide looking down from Mount Osmond. It was taken in December 2006 and featured on the following nights news broadcast.

AudioHive / For the sound competition.. Printed sample of AudioHive natural shown here, thanks to Ruby red: / I sat and thought about sound, what it is, what it means. Our attraction to sound is primal, as universal as the world itself. / It has structure and body, with no definable form. It can be all things, / natural, mechanical & electric. Sound brings us together, forms and strengthens communities. So this design is a visual representation of those thoughts.. I hope you enjoy it. Details can be seen: / here / and here NOTE: I`ve uploaded 2 different colourways for this design, which I normally wouldn`t do, but both speak / of something to do with my concept. Let me know which you think is the better entry? And if you like it enough please throw a vote my way
Credit crisis? What happens when you gamble with the house? A house of cards is unstable at the best of times. / Add a little extra element of danger (or just a little element) and, well…
Featured in National Parks of the World – Dec 2008. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Captured today… I jumped in my trusty old Toyota Landcruiser (Barry) and headed bush to chase this spectacular storm front. It was such an exhilarating adventure! We have now enjoyed several weeks of ongoing storm activity here in the desert. Today’s wild and rainy storms began at around eight this morning. Throughout the day, storm front after storm front has rolled over the desert, bringing with them heavy rain and exhilarating electrical activity. We have endured hail today, strong winds and even a lightning strike which sparked a small blaze in the National Park. And all of these incredible storm sessions were punctuated by bright sunshine and warm temperatures. Wow, I am thoroughly exhausted from following the weather today. I think I have storm-photographing-fatigue. / (A new member of the Elite Storm Chaser Squadron…) Uluru, Central Australia. Monday 24th November 2008. This is Bruno – he works at the real Sector 7G – he has so many more dials to look at today, he’d rather be out watching the new Simpsons Movie!
How long can you weep in silence? / Soon, the pain will be unbearable. / If you’re not careful, you’d lose your mind.. / And maybe even, your life.. A remake of one of my previous photomanipulation, Silenced as you can see here: Done in photoshop. Photos and drawings used to make up this piece are my own shots taken and drawings done. Comments and critics will be appreciated. Thank you! n_n Vector and Raster Prints: /
the bright sails of Marina Mirage on the Southport Broadwater with a storm rolling in from sea
This shot was taken at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, CO. The most amazing electrical storm came through. It was quite a ways in the distance. The cloud coverage was interesting which sat low over our heads. Lightning flashed about every three seconds. It was truly spectacular. It never rained where I was standing. Noise Reduction software applied due to the high ISO setting. I put the camera on a tripod and kept clicking. The pool house was in the foreground and Cheyenne Mountain in the background.

Another instalment in my Nostalgia series / It was created using my painted with light techniques, if you are interested in the details, here is an article I wrote about them. In this case I set the exposure to 15sec. Equipment used: / - Pentax K10D with a SMC Pentax-M 1:3.5 28mm lens / - cheap flashlight and the camera set to auto WB which it screws up resulting in the nostalgic colours. more nostalgia: / Available as a desktop wallpaper
Inspired by those devices run by the electricity generated from vegetables… this pumpkin generated so much voltage that it burst the bulb! I did this by actually shooting a pellet through the bulb, aimed at a copper foil switch opposite. When the pellet hit the switch, it triggered my flash and so the action of the glass popping was frozen. Electrodes and coiled wire are props, but the bulb was actually lit (wire hidden behind the pumpkin) and I set my exposure for the lit bulb. Nothing done with Photoshop here, just pure fun with film, flash and pellet gun!
