Well this is the shot that made it into the 2008 channel ten weather calendar, so I’m pretty proud of that.Getting this into the calendar was my first… ‘public’ recognition of my work so this is a pretty special shot to me. it is lightning over Adelaide looking down from Mount Osmond. It was taken in December 2006 and featured on the following nights news broadcast.

This shot was taken at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, CO. The most amazing electrical storm came through. It was quite a ways in the distance. The cloud coverage was interesting which sat low over our heads. Lightning flashed about every three seconds. It was truly spectacular. It never rained where I was standing. Noise Reduction software applied due to the high ISO setting. I put the camera on a tripod and kept clicking. The pool house was in the foreground and Cheyenne Mountain in the background.

This is Bruno – he works at the real Sector 7G – he has so many more dials to look at today, he’d rather be out watching the new Simpsons Movie!

Inspired by those devices run by the electricity generated from vegetables… this pumpkin generated so much voltage that it burst the bulb! I did this by actually shooting a pellet through the bulb, aimed at a copper foil switch opposite. When the pellet hit the switch, it triggered my flash and so the action of the glass popping was frozen. Electrodes and coiled wire are props, but the bulb was actually lit (wire hidden behind the pumpkin) and I set my exposure for the lit bulb. Nothing done with Photoshop here, just pure fun with film, flash and pellet gun!

...and if so, do they get more or less excited when the batteries run out?

A little play with light, power and a timer. Not my usual style of photography, but I am having fun with it! I only adjusted the gamma on this. the rest is natural, the way I shoot.

This is a montage of a landscape shot of power lines in Merced county CA, Obsidian, and Crystal. My intent was for this to be a bit futuristic and otherworldly…....as the search for more power for the world continues….....Edited with PhotoImpact11. / / / _ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission.
