  • Elbow Falls in the winter

  • Model – the utterly lovely Lauren Vickers Note to self: If shooting in the hotel who’s namesake is a blonde bimbo ex-con heiress, barricade the door to the Spa – that way, management types won’t barge in and interrupt you by kicking you out halfway through a shoot before you get the shot you actually want. • Autumn at Elbow Falls
    by EchoNorth

    US$3.99–US$91.20

This spot in the Canadian Rockies is absolute eye-candy for photographers in autumn. I was out to capture the blue-green water, purple-blue rocks and golden-bright september foliage this past week, now that the tourist crowds have subsided. (and before winter kills all the colour for us poor canucks.) These falls on the Elbow river are located about 20 mins past my home in the southern Albertan foothills; they make a nice quick excursion on a slow day round the house.

  • Elbow Room
    by Jan Landers

    US$4.99–US$114.00

COLORADO (listen to this most beautiful song!!!) / (written by Dave Kirny / sung by Merle Haggard) There’s a place where Mother Nature’s got it all together, / She knows just when to let wild flowers bloom, / Somehow she always seems to know exactly what she’s doin’ / And The Lord saw fit to furnish elbow room. / / Have you ever been down to Colorado ? / I spend a lot of time there in my mind. / And if God doesn’t live in Colorado, / I’ll bet that’s where he spends most of his time. I’d love to be there watching, early in the morning, / The sun comes up and crowns the mountain king. / If by chance you dare to be there, high upon the mountain, / I swear that you can hear the angels sing. Have you ever been down to Colorado ? / I spend a lot of time there in my mind. / And if God doesn’t live in Colorado, / I’ll bet that’s where he spends most of his time. taken at Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

  • Up to my elbows in tits...
    by Alexander Edwards

I just spent two cups of coffees trawling through the nude challenge and …

I just spent two cups of coffees trawling through the nude challenge and couldn’t help but notice a few things. First and foremost was the inability for people to understand what the term nude meant. I was happy to walk through the gallery with a wide interpretation, but if you’ve got clothes on, then you’re not nude… And no, its not a semi-nude challenge either. Secondly I noticed the ratio of women to men. I’m not sure why this might be the case. Is it that straight men may be more inclined to shoot women based on an instinctive desire and that women and some gay men may inherently relate to a nude woman. Perhaps there is also a reluctance to shoot nude men because it is more socially acceptable to objectify women. Forgive the generalisations, but these are societal pressures that most people feel even if they’re unaware. Thirdly, and I think most unfortunately, I don’t remember seeing any couple shots. This probably has a little to do with my goldfish memory, but I am sure they were not well represented. And so what does this mean? That artists are afraid of shooting couples naked? Is it the suggested or possible sexualisation of the image? Perhaps its because much of the photography objectified its subjects, and those shooting these images are unable to find a way of shooting a couple because the context works against the process of objectification. Please don’t think this is some rant or that I am trying to gain the moral high ground on any of these issues. Just thoughts floating through my over-caffeinated brain that I thought other people might be interested in hearing and talking about. But please head to the challenge and make the effort to get through the 600 images. There is some truly amazing work in there.

  • I discovered a face in the work of Leonardo da Vinci – I decided to had eyes and glasses. Hidden of the Vitruvian Man. “Leonardo envisaged the great picture chart of the human body he had produced through his anatomical drawings and Vitruvian Man as a cosmografia del minor mondo (cosmography of the microcosm). He believed the workings of the human body to be an analogy for the workings of the universe.”
