  • Egyptian Sunrise 1 of 3
    by Buddy Sears

    US$3.42–US$91.20

I had just returned from a trip to New York where I visited every major art gallery in Soho. To say that I was very inspired is an understatement. I recommend the experience to any artist given the opportunity. Anyway, while I was there I stayed on the top floor of the Hilton overlooking Ground Zero of 911. Sitting in my room watching the sun come up, I couldn’t help but think about the contrast between the natural beauty of the sun coming up and the devastation below me. I wondered about how complicated our modern lives had become and what it would be like to have lived in the past and simply enjoy the beauty of a sunrise without the noise of traffic, cell phones, etc. Egyptian Sunrise is the place my imagination took me. Looking out my window as the city begins to wake I gaze over the beautiful pyramids as the sun comes up, one thing remains true; the sun will rise again tomorrow. How beautifully uncomplicated is that? Painted across three canvases, I mixed two confluent designs of curves and straight lines. I painted this using acrylic, latex and chalk.

  • THE NEW EGYPTIANS / OIL / $500 US (8” X 10” ORIGINAL) / SIGNED DEDICATED PRINTS AVAILABLE The very hand that grasped the brushes and mixed the colors to paint this small portrait of the vast Cosmos is the very same hand that was created by the Cosmos. The very same eye that sees the Cosmos is the very same eye that the Cosmos fashioned. The very same mind that searches for contact with the Cosmos is the very same mind of the Cosmos looking for me. Deep within my aching veins courses the elements forged in the furnace of an exploding star of some long ago forgotten age. Elemental memories coalescing into a desire so strong and demanding that it literally is in my very bones. I seek to be reunited with my Beloved. It is there that I will find refuge and peace. I will have returned from the place from whence I started and I will know it for the very first time. To be is to be related. All things coexist. Nothing is alone. Everything has proceeded from the One Source, our Beloved, and will eventually return to be reunited. Death is the price we pay for life. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is wasted. The ancients knew that a time would come when a rebirth would arise. They built great monuments to await that day. They were not alone in their hopes and dreams. The universe is just too large to contain only three Earthly pyramids. So vast and numerous is life that it cannot be allocated to just one place. So, here is my painting, a small tribute, to the New Egyptians wherever their new Egypt may be found. visionary imagist “Joey”

  • all art, models, photo’s, by Sandy Viktor Nys / All models cleared by contract. This started from a “snapshot ” during hairdressing of Oksana. An average picture. I started to create a soft skin, by making 3 copies of the layer and putting them in a subfolder. First layer gets a blur filter, second a noise filter and the third a dust & scratches filter, each layer I adjust the opacity until I like the skin structure. / Because now is everything soft, make a mask in the subfolder .Now you can paint in the details, of eyes, eyebrows, hair, lips and nose. / Take a soft small brush and follow like a painter the contours of eyes and lips at 100 %, for nose and jawbone put brush pressure on 50 % / Use a wocom pen to really paint fluently. / After this flatten, bring color in face, with color adjustments, more red and yellow. Fine tuning with curves. Lighten the white of the eyes with dodge tool, darkening eyelashes and lips with burn tool. / I rendered the Egyptian hair and headset in Poser on high resolution, already in a position and light environment that fits the face.I took her real hair from another picture (after hairdressing). / I cut out the renders and elements to compose, putting each element in a separated layer; I adjusted the hair color of Oksana to fit the headset. The headset was partly masked to connect to the hair. The background is a rough mix of several Egyptian scans.

  • The Phoenix arrives a fabulous bird that periodically regenerated itself, used in literature as a symbol of death and resurrection. According to legend, the phoenix lived in Arabia; when it reached the end of its life (500 years), it burned itself on a pyre of flames, and from the ashes a new phoenix arose. As a sacred symbol in Egyptian religion, the phoenix represented the sun, which dies each night and rises again each morning. According to Herodotus the bird was red and golden and resembled an eagle. Acrylics on paper

  • 3d image, finished in PSP,PS,, Osiris, Son of Geb and Nut, Brother and Husband to Isis, Brother of Set. / Osiris was a grand King of Egypt, he built the temples and made new laws which were fair for the people, and his people loved him, for he cared for them, showed them how to farm the land, and rid the land cannibalisum. His brother Set became jealous of his popularity and plotted a devious plan to kill him. This way Set could live as Pharaoh, rule and change the Kingdom again. He set about his plan. One day a huge party took place and Set had a magnificent coffin made, he told the people of the party, whomever fitted in this grand coffin, may keep it,, he let everyone try it for size. Except it fitted no one, other than Osiris. Osiris was overjoyed that this grand coffin would be his. And Set told him to try it out for size, so he did. When Osiris got in, and Set immediately ordered his men to nail down the lid, tight. After this was done, Set then ordered the coffin to be thrown into the Nile. Where it sank to the bottom. Isis soon found out and hawled her husbands body from the depths of the Nile. Isis then hid it in marshes, but Set found it. He then took Osiris’ body and cut it into pieces, which he spread over the kingdom. Isis spent time looking for her husband, and when she had found all the pieces, she asked Anubis, to help her put Osiris back together. Once together, they became husband and wife and produced Horus. I believe Osiris became the first Mummified Egyptian. / © Copyright 2008 Dawnsky2, All Rights Reserved.
