This beautiful white wader was photographed in a pond in Madison, Florida, and had just snapped up a fish as seen by the ripples of water circling out from the bird.

Inspired By: David Cook / MUSIC / You say you gotta go and find yourself / You say that you’re becoming someone else / Don’t recognize the face in the mirror / Looking back at you You say you’re leavin / As you look away / I know theres really nothin left to say / Just know i’m here / Whenever you need me / I’ll wait for you So i’ll let you go / I’ll set you free / And when you see what you need to see / When you find you come back to me Take your time i wont go anywhere / Picture you with the wind in your hair / I’ll keep your things right where you left them / I’ll be here for you Oh and i’ll let you go / I’ll set you free / And when you see what you need to see / When you find you come back to me And i hope you find everything that you need / I’ll be right here waiting to see / You find you come back to me I can’t get close if your not there / I can’t get inside if theres no soul to bear / I can’t fix you i can’t save you / Its something you have to do So i’ll let you go / I’ll set you free / And when you see what you need to see / When you find you come back to me / Come back to me / So i’ll let you go / I’ll set you free / And when you see what you need to see / When you find you come back to me And i hope you find everything that you need / I’ll be right here waiting to see / You find you come back to me When you find you come back to me / When you find you come back to me / When you find you come back to me
This shot of a Great Egret in flight will mesmerize you the longer you look at it, due to the unintentional effect of white on a dark blue background. It almost appears you actually seeing her in flight.

Once a victim of plume hunters, the great egret has made a comeback and is common throughout America’s wetlands but is rare in Canada. I took this photo on a lake in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This egret has a feather in its bill, not surprising as it is constantly preening!
Egret feathers, delicate and light.

When driving on I 255 southeast of St. Louis Missouri, into Illinois this morning I saw this large backwater pond filled with white egrets and herons next to the Mississippi River levy. I got off the interstate and took the outer road back to the levy to take this image. There were probably 200 egrets and herons in the backwater. If you look closely you can see dead fish floating all over and laying on the bank. I was lucky enough to catch this heron just as he had caught a live fish. Nikon D40X with Nikon 300mm VR lens
The images for this calendar were shot at Silverbell Lake, Tucson AZ
This was the sunset of Friday, 25th September 2009. The dust returned for the afternoon and evening. Not quite as smothering as the Wednesday of the same week, but this time, as the wind died off in the evening, it was like light snow, as the particles settled. Just spent the entire morning dusting off my computers in the internet cafe, as it was a real mess. You can see the wind swirling the dust around in this shot. And I must say, yes another bird here, but I was very happy to have captured a Great Egret in this one, I have seen these birds around, but never flew past me at the right times.
