  • Well here it is. Been working on this for two days. It’s a compilation of several images. Some you may recognize from previous submissions(especially the egrets). I’m divulging a lot of secrets here. This is my second, scratch that, third rendition of this. You are not seeing the first one… yet (lol). There are 8 different images included here. Most of them had to be HDR processed. The sky and mountains were created with Terragen. The sun was created with CS2 lighting effects. The water as created with Flood. The house image was taken from a painting we have on our wall at home. That’s what gave me the original idea. The main landscape image was taken at a park near my house where I walk all the time. I was resting one day looking out on the open soccer field and, well, you know how it works. I had to do significant editing to the field shot to remove houses, trash cans, wires and you name it. Then I started to fill it in. You will see this landscape again, for sure with other…ah… items on it. Stay tuned. Any how this was a lot of fun getting to this point, so I hope you like it. Any, and all comments are welcomed…you know I can take it…:-)

  • The egret is going to a place of rest in the tree. Resting is good. It’s another way to rejuvenate the body and mind. A time when the body heals its hurts. A time to reflect. This is a compilation of the egret, and tree. The landscape, sky, sun and water were generated in Photoshop. The reflections of the tree and egret were created with a reverse image, and reduced opacity. I’m not quite sure if I got the egret reflection perspective right and would appreciated your comments. • Part of my Egret Series. This is a compilation. The sunset was taken on 09-27-08 in Arizona. The egret was blended into the image along with the water (flood plugin) and the rock was created using the pen tool and shading. Fractalius was applied to both images prior to blending. • Water color Painting on 140lb Montval paper. / Most of the background of water here was accomplished with wet on wet, adding and moving the colors. The beak was started with a solid orange that settled adding touches of green and I used a wet brush to bring the light spots back out after it was completely dry. Most of the darker areas on the beak were dry brush and then lightly bled. The photo for this painting was taken at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. As this egret settled in to finding a good spot to fish, he gathered a crowd. We all watched for almost 20 minutes as he caught a days worth of fish. Just enough for lunch, I’m sure he planned to return later that day for the evening show. I’m glad we got front row seating so I could get a few great shots. /

  • / You’ve seen this egret before. The rest of the scene was computer generated. I used a new tool to me here called the Art History Brush Tool to create the misty look and clouds. The sun and sky were created from a gradient brush and I used blur to, ah, blur it. i created the land using the freeform pen tool and flood to create the water. The reflection of the egret was created from a duplicated layer of the bird and lower opacity. That’s about it. Hope you like! • The Reddish Egret is considered one of the most active herons, and is often seen on the move. It stalks its prey in shallow water far more actively that other herons and egrets. It frequently runs energetically and uses the shadow of its wings as to drive prey before it; the result is a fascinating, graceful dance. It eats fish, frogs, crustaceans, and insects. In Florida, none were seen between 1927 and 1937. Overall, their numbers have been gradually rising since enactment of the 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which protected the species from hunting.Because they depend exclusively on coastal habitats, which are at risk from development and environmental degradation, they remain vulnerable. / Capture at Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, Florida .The park is a ‘gateway site’ for the Great Florida Birding Trail. / canon 40D / canon 400mm / ISO 400 / 1/2000 f 5.6 CP filter /

  • Lake Martin, at Cypress Island, Louisiana, is a refuge for many water birds, including the great white egret and the great blue heron pictured here, along with moss-draped cypress trees from which the place gets its name.

  • I love watching herons wading in the shallow waters searching for their dinner. Sometimes it is really funny! They have some humorous antics! This art work has been FEATURED in the “Impressionism Cafe” group! :)

  • Cattle egret posing grandly at the rookery on Jefferson Island, Louisiana.

  • Inspired by my time spent down at the cove near my home; a place where it’s calm and peaceful and I am inspired with each visit. This art work has been FEATURED in the ”#1 Artists of Red Bubble” group! :)
