This was taken at The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, FL. While walking the zoo, I noticed a lot of noise in a tree along the walkway. It was a mother Snowy Egret and her two little ones. It was the best photo I took at the zoo that day. I hope you enjoy :) Taken with Nikon D40 w/ 55-200mm Nikkor lens Thanks, Antonio

When you look back on your life, is the best time to remember those experiences that have shaped you, and those who contributed to your life over the years. Learn from them, and those experiences to help make the world a better place as you look forward. A grandpa’s wisdom, and it’s free.

Part of my Egret Series. This is a compilation. The sunset was taken on 09-27-08 in Arizona. The egret was blended into the image along with the water (flood plugin) and the rock was created using the pen tool and shading. Fractalius was applied to both images prior to blending. As you contemplate your day’s end, is all well with your soul? Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now / My Bubblesite

Two Egrets with a reflection.

The egret is going to a place of rest in the tree. Resting is good. It’s another way to rejuvenate the body and mind. A time when the body heals its hurts. A time to reflect. This is a compilation of the egret, and tree. The landscape, sky, sun and water were generated in Photoshop. The reflections of the tree and egret were created with a reverse image, and reduced opacity. I’m not quite sure if I got the egret reflection perspective right and would appreciated your comments. Here we see egrets and herons demonstrating what I call their “fly fishing” technique. They fly across the water, sometimes skimming their feet to scare fish into darting (as the egret in the far background is doing). When they spot prey, they strike blindingly fast, with an acrobatic flourish. Their bills pluck out small fish and they fly on with their catch. This instant in time caught a Tricolor Heron and a Great Egret at the moment their bills hit the water. The heron must be virtually stopped in the air, and striking straight down, since the bill does not disturb the water. St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, on Florida’s panhandle gulf coast.
