Lake Dumbleyoung in Western Australia. Holding the land speed record, Donald Campbell then broke another speed record over the surface of this inland lake. He was the fastest man on land and water but the lake later took his life.

My family and friends were enjoying a few days of skiing and I ventured out in the dark to see what I could locate to photograph. As the sky began to lighten, dead trees emerged from the mist and made the wait in sub zero temperature worthwhile. Image straight from camera with no manipulation.

The Huntress As the little huntress went deeper into the enchanted woods she wondered if her bird companion and herself were ever going to make it out alive, they were on the search for the most feared and powerful witch Qunal who was bringing death and destruction upon the elf village in the north region. The surroundings seemed like it was taking a life on its very own. Inspired by an old ink print I saw in a book when I was a Child. / The print I remember had this big spooky figure of a man looming in the doorway and had this wicked dark atmosphere to it. / I dont think my version really compared tho, as i only got to get a glimpse at the book (it was in an old op shop and i didnt have any money ever as a child,) so, I had to go by memory, and with not wanting to copy theirs, I came up with this instead :) / Originally drawn in 1992, then redrawn back in 1997. / this is the redone version of 97. / -which is why there is a tea stain and the paper is rumpled :) / ...but i like to think it adds to the overall effect :) / Drawn on normal printing paper, just old and rumpled and torn and sunbleached like crazy :) All work (including images, and writings) copyright dimarie painter / / Click here for work details and credits if any apply… / Click on any category above for that genre… or / Click here to go back to my profile page ... thanx :)

He felt it as soon as he walked in the house..THE EVIL..yet one look at his new brides face wiped that feeling away..she loved it, and all he wanted to do is please her, and please her he did when she turned to him with “I Love it” on her lips..he turned to the real estate agent and said “We’ll take it”...from that day his world was turned upside down..The voices started not long after moving day, telling him that “she was no good” his beautiful wife…convincing him he would be better without her..whispering those terrible things he should do to “Fix” her..Now he sits at the top of the stairs looking down at the bottom where she lays crumbled and not moving..flashes of remembrance coming in and out..her running with him on her heals, screaming for her to “come back”...her slipping..reaching for him, tumbling..and now all he can hear is the voices again..claiming him, he knows now he is forever here in this evil house..IN ITS GRIP.. by parmiDifferent? My depiction of the mind of someone in personal struggle with society. The light and the dark, happy and sad, known and unknown. All of this moving with random thought processes, pop culture, gossip, media influence, culture clashes and a lot of the time, white noise to fill whatever silence is left. This is modern society. Confusing, confronting, intimidating and at times down right scary. Which way do we go? Title of this piece I have borrowed from one of my favourite songs: “..can I please have some silence. How about some space..“ / Mindcircus – Way Out West. City Of Melbourne Musuem. Not the one in Carlton, housing dinosaur bones and relics though. This is the nondescript one on Spring Street, in the old Treasury Building. It showcases the history of Melbourne as a city, from colonisation to today. This was taken in the vaults, underground. Which have been turned into an interactive journey through the gold rush days. This particular room had only a tv and light in it, both of modern look. The contrast grabbed my attention straight away. It had a spooky yet familiar effect on me. I didn’t know what to make of it, but I kept looking at it, unsure what to think or feel. Slight crop of original photo. Desaturated all and selectively coloured tv screen. Increased contrasted and brightness to achieve higher levels of mood. To take another step…... / To where it leads I fear….... Original image taken Les Invalides: Napoleon’s Tomb in Paris, obviously with a fair degree of postwork. I have to add, I was totally inspired whilst working on this, listening to “The Resistance”, Muse. Can you see the ghostly figure, not knowing whether to continue up the stairs to the light….....? Gazing upwards, a skeletal figure, gazing downwards, a screaming face, can you see both ? Many thanks to The Male Photographer group for the feature (September 2009).

OOOHH!! How long was I passed out? These damn pictures are consuming me; I feel like they are eating my very soul. There is one more image to develop, should I dare? I must, I have to see what drove my Uncle mad in this house forsaken by God. OOOH!! What the hell can this monstrosity be? How did my poor crazy Uncle get out of this house without being torn from limb to limb? This demon from the depths of Hell looks like some sort of a warrior or guard, for the time being I shall call him the “Guardian of the House”. My mind is racing with all types of thoughts, I feel that I must go to this house and see for myself if this if real or not, or should I dare not? I might have myself driven mad like my Uncle. by Kim CalvertThe house sits like her heart… Empty, once full of love and life, now the halls echo with the laughter..the joy of their love, Memories of happiness are all she has. He left for work that day with a kiss to her lips, a “I love you” on his way out the door, she waved to him out the window and blew him a kiss..if she only knew that would be the last time she tasted his kiss, felt his touch,she would never have let him go..The only relief out of all this pain and heartache is he didn’t suffer, when the truck hit his car head on, he died instantly. Now she waits, unable to leave their home, not wanting to go on, knowing that he waits for her..she prays for “HER” life after death, to be in his arms again, to feel his kiss, his touch, to make this house their home for eternity, the way it should have been..but again she wakes to the emptiness of the halls, the emptiness of their bed and of her heart..she goes to the window and like a movie played over and over agiain she sees him getting into his car..she pounds on the window..yells for him to STOP!!!..to COME BACK!!!...and like every day he pulls away and disappears into thin air…leaving her again.to her pain, and their empty house.
