Scarification is a means of permanently marking the skin by cutting alone, without the use of pigments. The scars may be lighter or darker than your original skin tone and may raise up (keloid scarring). There are many ways to produce a scar but the cut must always penetrate the dermis if a scar is to be produced. The result depends as much on your skin as the method used. Black skin in particular is very good at producing pronounced keloid scars and this is a popular alternative to tattooing for people with very dark skin, for whom a tattoo might not show up very well. In many parts of Africa these scars are marks of beauty and a way to identify someone belonging to a particular group. Scarification also may mark one’s status as a civilized being, adult, or member of a specific ethnic group or initiation association. I spend a day in his school in a remote village of Benin to work on the Art in All of Us activities (www.artinallofus.org). I had really a great time thanks to the kids creativity. Please see some of their works on Benin Gallery ! hope you enjoy !! All proceeds from sales of pictures will go to the art education project of Art in All of Us (WWW.ARTINALLOFUS.ORG)

This image was taken on the Berry College campus in Rome, Georgia. The Berry campus is the largest campus in the world at nearly 30,000 acres. It consists of fields and forest and mountains lands which have designated portions open to the public for hiking, cycling, horse back riding, and other outdoor activities. The large deer population is reputed to outnumber the students by eight to one! About half the campus is a wildlife refuge where no hunting is allowed. The other half (almost 16,000 acres) is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where hunts are managed in an attempt to control the deer population and provide recreational opportunities within department regulations. With a permit fishing is allowed on some of the campus lakes and streams. Other wildlife often seen on campus are wild turkeys, seasonal ducks and geese, skunks, and squirrels. Please don’t copy or download this image. My photos may NOT be reproduced and/or used in any form without my written permission. If you want this photograph, I would be honored for you to purchase it. ©2008 Patricia Montgomery | Bucks Mountain Galleries | All rights reserved.

the year 2030 our children will go to school to play educational games ,they will perhaps be taught by a hollogram interaction at the highest level, integration at the optimum, problem children in inverted commas will disappear in that their education slots will be altered to their specific needs and interests. / Within the same environment mentors and guardians will be in place of teachers and a new attitude/generation will be born of this , guardians will be placed in the playground to deflect bullying behaviour, virtual history lessons will be in place whereby students can literally reinact the past in a chosen area and get a real feel of the past, this short story reflects a recent dream where i was in a virtual history lesson making wooden needles to male clothes in the time of Alfred the great it was some dream / live in hope of this dream /reality
