This female Ornate Cowfish was nice enough to turn around and give me a smile, under the Edithburgh Jetty. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Add to Watchlist
My daughter contemplating the flag of Italy
Fanworm amongst the colourful growth on the Edithburgh Jetty. The fanworms look very impressive moving in the slight current, but if you get too close they disappear back down their tube. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Add to Watchlist
Some of the very colourful growth on the pylons under Edithburgh Jetty. The relatively common Nudibranch (Ceratosoma brevicaudatum) can also be seen making its way down the pylon. Browse By Category / Underwater / Panoramas / Adelaide and South Australia Add to Watchlist
All the images for this calendar have been taken around Adelaide and South Australia this year. I hope that it brings some of the underwater world to anyone who is not fortunate enough to dive regularly in this part of the world.
A Port Jackson Shark lying in the seagrass under the jetty at Wool Bay. This was by far the most cooperative Port Jackson shark I have come across, it was more than happy to stay still while I took some rather close up shots! I think this is a Short Headed Seahorse (Hippocampus breviceps), if anyone knows for sure please let me know in the comments. The image was taken under Edithburgh Jetty on the October long weekend. The seahorses use their tail to cling to the weed under and around the jetty, feeding on the zooplankton that drifts by. Lined Dumpling Squid, or Striped Pyjama Squid (Sepioloidea lineolata) under Edithburgh Jetty. This squid is around 5cm long, and quickly buried under the sand after I took one shot. They are seen reasonably regularly on nights dives under the Edithburgh jetty, although this was taken during the day, so I was pretty lucky to find him! A formidable weapon? Chocolate drops? An alien invader? Nope, just a star fish. A very close up view of the 11-legged star fish. Taken at the Edithburgh Jetty on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia.
