The Glencoe Lochan is always a beautiful tranquil spot. This image was taken during Easter when the daffodils were open, which add a splash of colour in the foreground before your eyes are drawn down the length of the Lochan.
Unlike this image drawn in the sand, love, true love lasts. / This heart was drawn by my wife in the sand just before the sea came and claimed it back.

After it was all said and done, the world celebrated the first Easter and the gift of life ever after. The fulfillment and promise of that Easter must have stood in sharp contrast to the barbaric Roman symbols of torture, which stood empty – as empty as non-believers stand today.
If you’ve ever taken a long trail ride, or ridden the fence line, you know the feeling of coming home. You will ride all night long just to get there. Many have asked me, “where is this?” as if I painted it in one particular place. The truthful answer is it is a combination of Montana, Nevada, and California. I was raised in summers in Montana, and have many ranching images of that area dancing through my head and into my work. As a boy, I was raised the rest of the year in California, which also has a large ranching community, memories of which also contribute to my work. And finally, as a young man out of college, I lived on a ranch in Nevada, which added to my memories, and to my art. So I don’t know what to tell people who want to know where this is. I suppose the answer is that is that it is in all three places. Ranchers and farmers in Montana, Nevada, and California – as do all of us – share the experience of “coming home.”
We lost our best friend, Molly, a black lab, on June 20, 2008. She was 12. We miss her very much. Love transcends all boundries, so this image is for everyone who is missing a cherished pet or a loved one. With God’s help, we move on. But every once in a while, it’s OK to pause for a look back to appreciate the good times. We sure are missing you.
This Christmas, may you have warmth in your heart and bright skies to show you the way home. And remember, when you store God’s love in your heart, He will light your trail today and every day. I wish your a peaceful and joy-filled journey today, and all the days of your life.
The midnight run from St. Louis, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, must have been an uncomfortable experience – the dust, bumpy ride, and the ever-present possibility of being held up by outlaws or Indians.

On Sundays, when we are in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains of California, some of us saddle up at the end of a long day for a ride up to the mountain to pay our respects to a loving father who single-handedly cherish us, loved us, and raised us to be men and leaders.
