Taken January 25, in a hutong in the very center of Beijing. Digital, as is. Tomorrow, January 26th, is Chinese New Year (Spring Festival). Traditionally most celebrating activities take place in the night before New Year. Then, many people shoot off firecrackers everywhere in the city. It’s the night’s spectacular. The very loud sound of firecrackers fills the city. And fireworks light up the night sky. This celebration always lasts from evening till small hours. However this year the sound is not so intensive, probably because of economic reason.

The economic downturn continues to make itself apparent. Couldn’t resist to take a few images of these Mannequinns that are now no longer “employed”, as the store is closing its doors. Couldn’t resist thinking about how Von McKnelly would have enjoyed stumbling upon this scene, and what images he would have taken. Captured at Dilliards, in Chesapeake, VA.
