An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadow of another. This lunar photograph was made a little more than an hour before the start of the recent eclipse on Town Beach, Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I was all set up with my feet in the wet sand, ready to set off the Timer when I caught sight of this moonlit surfer walking into shot. I could not believe my luck! Lunar Eclipse Series Photomerge of 16 individual and untouched sequential shots of the FULL lunar eclipse in August 2007, shot from a garage roof in Maroubra in Sydney (just up from the beach). The first image is shrouded by clouds. The 16th image was shot maybe 2 hours after the first. This, the 5th in my Lunar Eclipse Series, was inspired by Nando’s Lunar Eclipse My other 4 in this Series are: Moon And Aeroplane Five Moons Seven Moons Seven Moons And One Aeroplane Canon EOS 10D, 20 yr old tripod, borrowed 300mm zoom, Manual mode. Torch. Copious red wine.

Something completely non-artistic… however, it’s a nice image (digitally enhanced, of course). I’ll probably take it down after a few days, depending on its popularity. I guess I just wanted to share the moment. This eclipse happened on February 20th-21st, 2008, shot in Brazil **Edit: This image is staying due to its surprising popularity! :)

Taken in Ely – at nightfall…the setting sun was momentarily hidden behind this sign and I though it looked awesome – nothing has been touched in this shot – completely natural….which i found amazing to be in at the time.
